About me
I started gaming in 1987 with the same group of guys I play with today. Mostly we have stuck to non-DnD gaming like West End Games d6 Star Wars, MechWarrior, Gamma World, FASA Star Trek, TSR Marvel, and homebrews a plenty. As a GM I believe in the Sandbox method and tend to use NPCs and minor plot hooks. I also believe in focusing on the players, not my own creation. And RP is always encouraged. I also have a TTRPG Discussion Podcast, Geezers of the Game where me and my long-time friends talk all about elevating the games we play as well as offering help to others to do the same!
GM Style
Roleplaying trumps most everything: I believe that character development belongs in-game time. So in short I do not encourage elaborate backstories, but I do want players to come up with some basic story elements to play off of. 1. Big Goal - What is the character's dream? We all have a basic dream in life and your character shouldn't be robbed of this element either. 2. Basic Morality - Here is where I require some very important thought. What you choose to put down will directly affect how your character is perceived by other PCs as well as NPCs. So before you put them down they do what needs to be done, remember that is offputting to many people. 3. Fears - Now I do not require a phobia but everyone is afraid of something. Sure he/she or They/Them may not be afraid to die, but are they afraid to die alone? Or perhaps they are afraid of a certain number. Be creative with your fears they will allow for some wonderful opportunities for character development and tomfoolery. Conflict is the core of most good stories and my games will have several levels of conflict. Several Levels? Yes! There isn't just the BBEG you also have intercharacter, NPCs, and a whole host of other types of conflict. Finally, I run sandbox worlds. I will create the house but you get to design and furnish it through your character's interaction with the world. So expect some cause and effect with it comes to major and some minor choices you make. I hope you feel as I do, and I look forward to sharing an amazing story with you!
