About me

Last Gen Con, I ran four tables of Dungeon Crawl Classics for the good people at Goodman Games (they're great folks to run a con for, I would definitely recommend it), and all four tables of people laughed really hard and had a good time. That's because Chris Perkins (1) was sighted by me during the con and gave me a stat boost to my "Chill with any Vibe" proficiency. The check was successful. This was easy for me because my grandfather was a hypnotherapist, and I inherited his proclivity to such endeavors. Which probably means I have BPD, because that man *definitely* had it. He did get his degree in psychology from Harvard. I mean, he was also part of the Satanic Panic (2), but I'm sure he helped many people with his hypnotherapy. By, uh, "chilling with any vibe", if you will. Anyway, I never learned hypnotherapy, but I did learn how to run a great, dynamic table that feels like a bunch of coworkers that just clocked out and are hitting up that new restaurant you've all been talking about. It's all about letting our hair down and enjoying each other's company, which means if there's any jokes, they gotta follow the golden rule of comedy: if nobody's laughing, it's not a good joke. I keep the laughs where they belong - good, clean jokes that don't hurt anybody. So if I'm doing an accent, it's making fun of other Anglo accents, like Midwestern or Northumbrian. Or, like, the rich white countries. Because everyone knows the French and Germans always have it coming. Accents aside, if you couldn't already tell, I am a financially-frustrated comedian (3). Which means I’m the guy you want running your game. Especially since my AuDHD made the History of D&D my special interest *and* hyperfixation. You want stats for a falcon? You got stats for a falcon. We’ll just look it up in AD&D Second Edition. Hang on, a falcon has three attacks? Wicked! Oh, but they only deal one damage each. But if you hit with the beak it has a 25% chance of taking an eye out?! That’s sick, I have to translate this into French so we can use it in the next game! (4) In sum, if you’ve gotten this far, we need to hang out. Come and play a game with me! (1) Chris Perkins - the DM from Acq Inc, a great intro to the game. Oh, and also the Creative Director at Wizards of the Coast. Kind of an important dude. (2) He was on the side of the Panic. (3) Actually, I think you just call those “comedians”. (4) Real thing that happened in a French-language game I ran recently. Translated from the French, of course. (5) (5) Une vraie chose qui s’est passée au cours d’un jeu D&D en français que je viens d’arbitrer. Traduit de l’angais, bien sûr.

Wow, you're really persistent, aren't you? You scrolled all this way down the page. I didn't quite expect that, to be honest.
