About Gaidenn
20+ years of GM-ing. Favorite games: Savage Worlds (Adventure Edition) The Wildsea Starforged Dungeon World Nimble I started role-playing more than 20 years ago, when I was 14. Since I wanted to play the most, I instantly became the GM. It has been my passion ever since. I like being a player too, but I enjoy being a GM way more. I started with some Hungarian games (e.g. Káosz RPG, MAGUS) and some games that were popular back then (like WEG Star Wars, Vampire: The Masquerade, DnD 3e, Shadowrun 3e). Since then I have tried almost 2 dozen RPGs and read almost 30. Listened to RPG / GM-ing themed podcasts, watched RPG youtube channels and read quite a few books on GM-ing. Tried some solo games as well (like Thousand Year Old Vampire & Notorious). Ran (and played) many campaigns (Savage Worlds, DND5E, Dungeon World, Wildsea) for my friends and ran some games for strangers too, both personally and online. I occasionally run games for my kids (11, 8) and their friends as well, and at the moment I am playing a GM-less Starforged game with my wife. I always ask for and like getting constructive feedback from my players and constantly strive to get better and better at GM-ing.

How Gaidenn runs games
I like to run (mostly) linear stories with character-driven arcs, freedom of choice and a definite ending. I like running combat, puzzles and social scenarios as well. My greatest influences on running games are The Lazy DM by Michel E. Shea and Odyssey by Walt Ciechanowski & Phil Vecchione.

My favorite trope is...
The Redemption Arc, Tragic Anti-Hero, Mentor with a Heart of Gold OR The Power of Choice. Hard to choose just 1.
My games focus on...
Story and player choice. I like it when a story has a beginning, middle and ending, so that is how I run my games as well.
Rules are...
Important. But being on the same page about them is more important. As a player, you don't need to know ALL the rules. So don't worry about them.
Gaidenn's ideal table
At my table, the emphasis is on roleplay and teamwork. I encourage players to think in-character, make bold choices, and not be afraid to take risks—it’s all part of the adventure. Above all, I value a group that works well together, respects each other, and collaborates to create memorable moments. If you enjoy stepping into your character’s shoes, sharing the spotlight, and leaning into both successes and setbacks, you’ll likely fit right in at my table.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into fun, fast action, meaningful choices and games with a definite ending, you're going to love my table.
I love it when a player
I love it when a player thinks creatively and tries ideas even if these ideas are not coming from something on their character sheet.
I think metagaming...
I think metagaming should be kept to a minimum. That said, some systems incorporate metagaming by design. (Most modern systems I know have some type of metagaming anyway.)
