About kianmehr

I'm a pharmacy student, a lifelong fantasy nerd, and the kind of person who can spend way too much time reading lore, comparing characters, or figuring out how a game system works. I grew up with anime and manga like Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, Fate series, One Piece, and many more. I also loved fantasy books such as Artemis Fowl, The Bartimaeus Sequence, and Septimus Heap. Comics are another huge part of my life, especially DC. I’m definitely the type of person who enjoys long reading orders, obscure characters, alternate universes, and discussions about different versions of the same hero. When it comes to gaming, RPGs are easily my favorite. Skyrim, Fallout, Dragon Age, and especially the Soulsborne games are exactly my thing. I love exploration, difficult choices, memorable companions, dark fantasy, strange lore, and worlds that feel like they existed long before the player arrived. All of that naturally led me to TTRPGs. I've been playing TTRPGs for 5 years and GMing Pathfinder 2e for 3 years. Pathfinder 2e is my main system, and I especially enjoy GMing, tactical combat, roleplay, worldbuilding, and making Foundry VTT sessions feel smooth and immersive. In general, I'm naturally curious and love learning how things work. Whether it's a game system, a fictional universe, science, or some random topic that catches my interest, I tend to dive pretty deep into it.

I started running games because...

I loved the idea of taking all the things I enjoy about fantasy, RPGs, lore, and character-driven stories and sharing them with other people. GMing lets me build on a world, watch players make it their own, and see stories happen that none of us could have planned beforehand.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Tactical, invested, and adaptive. I like challenging encounters, I get deeply invested in the world and the characters living in it, and I’m always ready to adapt when the players take the story somewhere unexpected.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Usually reading comics or manga, getting lost in some fantasy lore, playing RPGs like Skyrim, Fallout or Soulsborne games, or studying pharmacy. I’m also always looking for the next fantasy book, game, or fictional universe to obsess over.

How kianmehr runs games

My GM style is a mix of tactical combat, roleplay, exploration, and a strong focus on lore and character development. Combat in my games tends to be challenging and tactical. Positioning, teamwork, preparation, and knowing your character’s abilities matter. I’m never trying to beat the players, but I want dangerous encounters to actually feel dangerous and victories to feel earned. I use published adventures as a foundation, then expand on their lore, NPCs, relationships, and character-driven moments. I enjoy expanding on the existing lore, NPCs, relationships, and especially the ways the world affects the characters over time. One of my favorite parts of GMing is watching PCs become part of the setting, change because of what they experience, and leave their own mark on the world. I also put a lot of focus on PC-to-PC roleplay. I like creating opportunities for characters to talk, disagree, bond, develop friendships or rivalries, and learn more about each other. In my experience, these moments don’t just make the party feel more real—they often help the players themselves become closer as a group. Expect challenging fights, lots of lore, exploration, meaningful consequences, character-focused moments, and plenty of opportunities to interact with both the world and each other.

I deal with rules issues by...

Hearing everyone out and checking the rule if we can do it quickly. If something is genuinely unclear, I’ll make a temporary ruling—usually leaning toward the players—and look into it properly after the session so we know how to handle it next time.

My favorite trope is...

A group of very different people slowly becoming a real party. I love watching strangers become friends, rivals, or even a found family because of everything they survive together.

My games focus on...

Lore, character growth, meaningful choices, and tactical combat. I love seeing the world shape the characters over time, while their choices leave a lasting mark on it. I also make plenty of room for PC-to-PC roleplay and relationships to develop naturally.

kianmehr's ideal table

My ideal table is a group of players who enjoy being part of the story, not just following it. I love players who are interested in the world, ask questions about the lore, care about NPCs, and let what happens in the campaign actually affect their characters. You don’t need to know every rule or have years of experience—new players are absolutely welcome—but being engaged and willing to learn goes a long way. I also really value players who interact with each other. Some of my favorite moments as a GM are when I can simply sit back and listen to two PCs talk, argue, joke around, share something personal, or slowly build a friendship or rivalry. I try to create plenty of space for that kind of roleplay because I want the party to feel like a real group of people, not just characters who happen to fight together. Good manners and mutual respect are very important at my table. I value players who give each other space to speak and make sure everyone gets their moment to shine. We can joke around and disagree in character, but the players themselves should always treat each other respectfully I appreciate players who make a genuine effort to separate player knowledge from character knowledge. Discovering monsters, secrets, and the world through your character is part of the fun for me, so I prefer decisions to be based on what the character actually knows rather than outside information. My combats can be challenging, so teamwork is important. I don’t expect perfect optimization, but I do enjoy players who communicate, think tactically, and help each other succeed. The general vibe at my table is relaxed and friendly outside the game, while still taking the story seriously when the moment calls for it. Jokes, chaos, and terrible plans are always welcome, as long as everyone respects each other and gives other players room to shine. If you enjoy lore, roleplay, teamwork, difficult choices, tactical combat, and watching your character grow alongside the rest of the party, you’ll probably fit in very well at my table.
