About Joss
Hi! Let me tell you a little about myself and then give you the format for the application. My name is Joss, I'm a 33 y/o Canadian (they/she) who has many years of writing and improv experience. I'm an experienced DM, with about six years of weekly D&D 5e under my belt, and a sprinkling of Pathfinder and other TTRPGs as well. In general, I tend to lean into roleplay-heavy campaigns, although I do my best to make sure that combat encounters are unique and engaging, and believe that PC death is really just another opportunity for advancement. I value my players' safety and comfort above all else, and run an inclusive table that has a zero-tolerance approach to bigotry.

How Joss runs games
I love roleplay first and foremost, but find that TTRPGs provide structure that can help propel the story to further heights. I also love being able to help someone create a narrative arc for their character, seeing how they change and grow over the span of the campaign is so much fun. Exploration and puzzle-solving are a close second to me. Nothing is more exciting to me than seeing how different groups tackle similar problems. Of course, without some risk there's no reward! Combat plays a vital role in making sure you have some skin in the game. That said, I believe that all combat encounters should have some purpose to help move the plot forward or otherwise engage the characters in the world, and work hard to make sure that's true.
