About Paul Oakes
I started playing D&D when my uncle got me the blue box for my 9th birthday in 1979. I played/GM'ed games all through Jr. High and High school, mostly D&D, AD&D, AD&D 2nd Ed., Gamma World, Boot Hill, Paranoia, Twilight 2000, Star Trek (both the RPG and Star Fleet Battles), Torg, World of Darkness and many other smaller ones. After I got married I sadly didn't make time to keep playing and took a hiatus for nearly 20 years. After my recent divorce I've decided to jump back into my old passion and I started playing/DM'ing D&D 5th Ed. I'm also looking into Call of Cthulhu and reviving some Gamma World and Boot Hill campaigns!

How Paul Oakes runs games
I am primarily a Modular GM. I struggle making time to really flush out homebrew campaigns so I prefer to run pre made adventures with some modifications. I try my hardest to avoid railroading however and love when the players come up with ideas and alternate paths. I do my best during these parts of the adventure to improvise and allow the creativity of the players to trump the module while trying to stay in the general boundaries of the adventure.
