About Eddy
I'm Eddy and I've been DMing since I started playing DnD5e with my friends in High School! Since nobody wanted to learn how to DM, I became the forever DM for a while of the group. I've since played, watched and Dungeon Mastered for different groups over the course of 8-9 years ever since high school in 2017! I run and play sessions with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC players across all walks of life! Veils and Lines are also very important to me because they are important to my players! I've done silly sessions, serious sessions, chill sessions and crazy sessions! I like to challenge my players in combat, roleplay and when I remember there's dungeons with the dragons, some puzzles and quest design. I've learned a big lesson in letting the players find crazy and unexpected ways to surpass my challenges. Despite my NPCs possibly despising your characters and wanting to kill you, I always want you guys to succeed and come out as heroes! I've got a BA in English because I genuinely loved studying literature that much. TTRPGs were a way for me to continue doing Improv and funny voices after high school as well, so expect some passion in my (admittedly sometimes terrible) voices! I don't mind running premade worlds but I always find making new worlds or remaking new ones with the player characters in mind to be a wonderful experience.

I became a GM because
in my friend group nobody else wanted to do it haha. I was originally the Forever DM of the friend group. I got to do the worst DMing possible in that first campaign, and I have learnt a lot from that silly but usually needlessly edgy campaign.
How Eddy runs games
I love roleplay and I think having characters bond/develop with each other is the heart of TTRPGs for me. I am also a massive fan of combat and how creatively you can solve an issue- combat or otherwise. Unless you're trying to make something stupid like a peasant railgun I will probably let you try it and give you a chance for that plan to succeed, especially if there's good (but perhaps strange) reasons for it to work! While I've been low on my puzzles, I try to make combat and world interaction the puzzle. How do you engage with a bandit camp? Kill them all? Ok cool... how are you doing that? Fireball in the woods? You're going to cause a forest fire that might make things terrible for your party as well. I like having players think about their choices but still giving enough leeway for crazy, bold or just ridiculous things happen. When I was still new to the game, I learned to love the Rule of Cool and I still hold that philosophy even with my adherence to rules. My players once killed a band of kobolds by tricking them into a store: inside their bag of holding. Does a bag of holding actually open wide enough to let kobolds walk in? No, but it was funny. And then the party closed said bag because there is no air inside a bag of holding, thereby killing them. I like simple rules and ideas combining into fun and engaging complex solutions.
Eddy's ideal table
The perfect table is calm and ready to get into character. I want players to be immersed in the game but be able to crack jokes or take a moment if necessary. Serious moments balanced with levity and each player gets their voice heard. It's important to me that the players feel welcomed by their peers as not just fellow players but often as friends. As a DM and that as players we are welcoming to everyone here! We're here to have fun, whether the player next to you is BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+ or the most cisgender mf to ever live. We also do Session Zero, Veils and Lines, and Consent Checklists before the first session for a reason. If anything is upsetting or uncomfortable in the game, PLEASE let me know. Even during the game if need be. I want a table where my players feel safe, included and respected.

I love it when a player
merges the strengths and weaknesses of their character into their stats. Nothing makes me happier than discussing abilities or weaknesses custom to a character, or why a character is built as a certain class. If you're going to min/max, give us a good reason for it!
I think metagaming...
kinda stinks and it ends up making the game more boring if it's just for the sake of winning. HOW is what's great to me: if you're experienced, make a smart or wizened character! A wizard might know silver hurts vampires, but that still means he has to try to kill a badass master of the night.
