About Theofanis Ganis
Hello everyone!!! My name is Theofanis and I'm from Greece. I am a professional Dungeon Master and I feel very lucky that I have been able to find players with whom I have formed friendships over the years. With some of them we have played over 5 years straight and they still help me grow as a person and as a DM. With them I have learned that truly every table is unique and no two sessions will ever be the same, no matter what a DM tries to do. I have learned to listen and care about their well being. I understand that sometimes not everything is going to go according to plan and that is okay. I'm a performer, a storyteller, an improviser, a game designer, a referee, an artist but most important, a fun guy to be around, easy to talk to and always happy to see you every day.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Caring, professional and easy to talk to.
When I'm not running games I'm...
I’m spending time with my wife and our young son. Playing at the park, reading fairytales enjoying sugar-free ice cream, and walking our dog, Aria.
How Theofanis Ganis runs games
To start, I do love roleplay and I craft tactical, high-stakes combat but not always. When someone asks me this question, I struggle to answer because I feel like I’m always evolving my game style. I’ll try to explain myself. Let’s take combat, for example. When I was a young DM, I saw combat pretty straightforward. Board, minis, initiative. After a while, I tried theater of the mind. I used to be very loose with the rules because I didn’t know them so well and then I became a bit more strict. Now I possess the tools and the wisdom to use them when i see fit. In some ways, I feel a map can be very limiting and theater of the mind is some times necessary. The same goes for the rules. What if the monster had 100 HP if you roll 97 damage and it’s your nemesis, you kill it. I also used to play all monsters the same way, but now some of them are clever, some cowards. Some know how to fight and others make mistakes. Additionally, I enjoy different types of games. I run murder mysteries and morally grey campaigns without an obvious bad guy, as well as dungeon crawls that focus on leveling up and killing monsters. I run comedic one-shots with puns and clichés. I play with children and welcome them to TTRPGs and I also play with veterans who just want to order some food and roll some dice. So, to sum up, I don’t really know what my play style is now, and I don’t dwell on it because it will soon change.

My games focus on...
The players. Your choices, your story. Fun comes from immersion, tension, and a world that reacts to you.
Rules are...
What define the experience. In survival horror, spells like Goodberry or Create Water remove tension. Rules are our shared language, we all need to know it in order to communicate.
Theofanis Ganis's ideal table
My table is a safe and respectful space. TTRPGs are a shared, team-oriented experience and players who understand that will fit right in. Collaboration and communication matter, but above all, we’re here to have a great time together.

I love it when a player
Include others in a scene and show genuine interest in what their fellow players bring to the table.
I think it's a red flag when players...
when players raise their voice or try to dominate others through intimidation. Respect and communication are essential at my table.
