About Kellen

Hello, and thank you for your consideration! My name is Kellen; I'm a 33 year old male from Canada who has recently become swept up in the renaissance of D&D. My intro to D&D was Baldur's Gate 3, and then playing in a close friends campaign. I was immediately hooked, and decided to start a campaign of my own. My homebrew campaign that I run for my friends is currently 6 months old, and approximately 100 hours worth of playtime. It is a high fantasy adventure, featuring cataclysmic stakes. I'm also working on a couple other smaller scale campaign ideas that I'm hoping to share with all of you here.

How Kellen runs games

I'm a relatively new DM, there are a lot of aspects of the role that I'm actively learning and improving upon as I carve out my own unique "style". I enjoy RP, albeit I'm not as 'proficient' at it as I'd like to be! My approach is to try and best describe the scenario, and set the stage for my players. I enjoy the aspect of a player driven experience, I try and be as hands off as possible to make my players feel as though they're the ones driving the story. If needed I'll give a nudge to my players to set them on their way. As far as my DM'ing style goes, I'm calm, flexible and an active communicator. I take pride in my storytelling, and love when my players are involved with building their characters personal story arcs. My main goal is to provide a fun and rewarding experience for my players, after-all, if you're not having fun, what is the point?

Kellen 's ideal table

My table is about having fun, D&D is an experience, not about "winning". With that being said though, I expect my players to take things seriously. That entails, knowing/learning your class, its abilities, and being prepared to take your turn in combat. It also means actively participating in the game. I'm of the belief that you get out what you put into it. The game is definitely more enjoyable, the more effort and time you invest into it.
