About DM_Dave
Hi everyone and welcome! I have been deeply involved in role-playing (RP), live-action role-playing (LARP), and gaming for the majority of my life, and I’ve spent the last eight years immersed in D&D and other TTRPGs, both as a player and a DM. With over 3,000 hours on Roll20 and extensive experience hosting dozens of games, I have developed a strong understanding of creating engaging, immersive experiences for players. Though new to StartPlaying, I have been running professional games on other platforms for some time, always prioritizing the player experience. Originally from the UK, I now reside in Scotland and continue to share my passion for storytelling and collaborative gaming with a growing community.

How DM_Dave runs games
As a Dungeon Master, I focus on a player-driven narrative, empowering you to shape the story through your characters’ decisions and actions. I welcome players of all experience levels, from newcomers to veterans, and I am committed to facilitating the kind of story you want to tell. About five years ago, I created a homebrew world centered around dragons, driven by the feeling that Dungeons & Dragons simply didn't feature enough of them. After successfully testing this world with several player groups, including one ongoing campaign that has lasted over three years, I’ve expanded to offer professional homebrew games as well as running pre-written modules. My games are all about you, your characters, and your choices. Whether you prefer combat-heavy sessions, role-playing, or a balanced approach across the three main pillars of RPGs, I can tailor the experience to suit your style. Looking for a campaign with meaningful downtime that doesn’t rush from level 1 to 20 in a matter of weeks? Or perhaps you’re looking for a rich world with deep lore that welcomes your creative contributions? I’ve got you covered. I use D&D 5e rules, but I believe that the "rule of cool" should always take precedence when it enhances the story and fun. If this sounds like your kind of game, feel free to sign up for one of my open campaigns, or reach out with any questions!
