About me
I am a professional librarian who moonlights as a nefarious gamemaster several times a month for friends both local and remote. I favor spiked pit traps over unspiked ones, love clever players, and even if I groan about it, I enjoy when my plans unravel into chaos. I am one of the original Maze Controllers for Mazes, have written and run a number adventures and am the lead writer on Mazes Books of Seasons (Books 5 through 9).
GM Style
I love crunchy systems, but am a theatre nerd at heart and enjoy good rp. I like to open with action to get players into a game. I try to construct memorable scenes, battle backdrops, and challenging situations by drawing on my experiences with caving, climbing, and martial arts. I thoroughly believe that the point of the game is to have a good time and I try to make sure everyone at the table has moments to shine and take the spotlight.

Trick is the most dedicated and prepared GM's I had the pleasure to play with! Whether its online or in person, he always makes sure all of your senses are immersed in the game. He loves to give his player's characters power within in the game and in turn he dials up the baddies to still challenge you. It's awesome and makes you feel like a badass. On top of the in game experience, he is organized and the glue that keeps the group playing together, ensuring no campaign dies to the dreads of scheduling conflict. Get in this guy's game while you can!

Patrick is incredibly dedicated to providing the best gaming experience for his players. He is always testing new tools/games to better bring the game to life. After every game he asks us two questions: 1. What did you like that you did tonight? 2. What did you like that someone else did? He cares that the game is run well, but he cares more about your experience and that you are having a good time. He's easily the best GM I've had. He knows his $&%*.

Visuals and music were used to set tensions. Challenges were interesting and combat was more than just swing away on your turn. Great use of terrain and mapping to allow for different styles to work well (cover but limited visibility as well as all-in tactics worked for different players).

Patrick is an incredibly creative, experienced storyteller and world builder. He's an enthusiastic GM and creator that is able to roll with the punches, allow players to be as creative and unique as THEY want to be. One of my favorite things about playing with Patrick is the sheer joy he takes in players succeeding, all the while working to keep them on their toes with a great challenge, a solid knowledge of rules, and the infectious happiness of a good game.

We are playing in a horror setting and Trick has done a great job creating an environment where our characters cannot trust their senses. Everything has layers of obscurity. He's playing with the experience of us as players not knowing what is real in the game. He is also incredible at painting miniatures and sets if you get a chance to play in person.

Patrick is a great GM. I've been playing with him for over 20 years now, and every year he gets better - new tricks in his bag, learning new areas of the games he runs, and pushing out into telling new stories. I game with him as often as I can.
