About Tristan Dolphus (Dimples & Dungeons)

Thank you for considering me! My name is Tristan D. Dolphus. I’ve been playing Dungeons & Dragons since 2020 and began running games for my community in 2021. Discovering D&D as an adult felt like rediscovering my imagination—something I didn’t think was possible, even as an artist. It all started with an online game among friends during the pandemic. Over time, as new players joined and others moved on, it evolved into a dedicated home game. We now play around a physical table with a built-in screen, using Roll20 for maps and visuals. I GM for a group of five players, running a biweekly campaign alongside the occasional one-shot. Outside of my home group, I also GM for Mae Day Media, where we run one-shot adventures for youth in the Great Plains area. I’ve had the privilege of running sessions at the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board's HERO Conference in both 2024 and 2025. I’m truly passionate about the power of tabletop roleplaying games to bring people together, foster creativity, and build community.

How Tristan Dolphus (Dimples & Dungeons) runs games

My GM style is rooted in the hero’s journey—I love character-driven stories, engaging roleplay, and memorable, recurring NPCs. My campaigns are shaped by the players and their characters; I encourage everyone to dive deep into their backstories, and I do my best to meet each player where they’re at. Together, we bring these characters and worlds to life. I also enjoy crafting tactical, dynamic combat encounters that go beyond just reducing a monster’s hit points. You can expect thoughtful encounters that challenge your decisions and creativity. In terms of tone and setting, I gravitate toward dark fantasy inspired by Dragon Age: Origins, Berserk, and The Lord of the Rings. Expect gritty worlds, meaningful choices, and a strong emotional core. Outside of GMing, I’m also an artist—I love designing custom scenes, NPCs, tokens, and even PC art upon request. I’ve used Roll20 primarily since I began GMing in 2021 and have built up a large collection of tokens, maps, and sourcebooks to support immersive play.

Tristan Dolphus (Dimples & Dungeons)'s ideal table

My ideal table consists of 4 players who are engaged, collaborative, and excited to tell a story together. I look for players who want to be part of a team-driven narrative—heroes whose journeys are intertwined, not solo spotlights. The overall vibe at my table leans toward dark, gritty fantasy with a sense of danger and consequence. I often use vivid, sometimes graphic descriptions to create a more immersive and intense atmosphere. If you enjoy high-stakes storytelling, rich roleplay, and a world where choices matter, you’ll fit right in.
