About Jonis
Salutations. My name is Jonis, I go by the DM name of It That Speaks. Ive been running games on and off for the last ten years or so and have decided to capitalize on it in a more proactive sense. I'm familiar with D&D 5e, pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, and Mutants and Masterminds to name a few systems. I am eager to help build a narrative and share art with the any who would appreciate the process that is a ttrpg.

I became a GM because
I am a writer at heart, and I love nothing more then the cathartic release of a well put together story. The GM is there to make payoffs mean something, and the everything in-between enjoyable until then.
My favorite shows/movies are
In order of no particular meaning. - John Carpenters "The Thing." - Dawn of the Dead - Batman The Animated Series - House M.D. - The Black Cauldron - The Barbie Movie (No really. Check it out) - Wall-E - Blazing Saddles - Animal Documenterys
People are always surprised when I tell them
I'm self taught. At least well read in the interests I have.
How Jonis runs games
I thoroughly enjoy the art of improve, role-play, and the alike. That isn't to say I'm not against the typical numbers game either. I usually play to my audience and build a game that I know folks will enjoy. For most games I've run, its been scenarios or campaigns of my own creation built on a skeleton of an idea that I like to build with my players. I do enjoy the classical tragic story to the pulp filled epic.

I deal with rules issues by...
...A case by case basis. I tend to usually play things by ear; or to be more accurate, I will be flexible to go with the spirit of the rules. I am not married to a book, nor do I think the book wants to be married.
I once ran a session...
...that consisted of a tea-party with superhero adjacent fantasy people. Completely stone-faced. To date one of my most proud accomplishments. It was peak immersion I tell you.
My favorite trope is...
...Surprise MacGuffin! I love the payoff of a seemingly pointless trite object being a silent breadcrumb that blows every plot point wide open.
Jonis's ideal table
I love to bring an energy to the table that enables people to feel connected. I have my daring do and my soapbox drama while having my cake and eating it too. I don't believe people would ever take the time to sit around and be bored for hours of their busy lives, and so I aim to implore a vigor for cathartic entertainment.

I love it when a player
...Truly embodies their character in a way they didn't even realize. To watch somebody discover themselves in the moment is an enjoyable accomplishment.
I think min/maxing...
...Can be fun! I love both ends of strategy and probability. You don't have to be optimized to the teeth to have a good time, but if someone just so happens to be a silver bullet for some circumstances, I love it.
My table is not the place for...
...Willfully mean-spirited play, or dismissive rhetoric. If everyone can have a good time, there shouldn't be a reason not to. I don't like when people try to ruin a moment or session for vindictive or absentminded actions.
