About Dale
I have been playing and running RPGs of all kinds since 1980. I am a nerd and geek on many levels. I first started reading The Hobbit in the 1st grade and was hooked on Middle Earth, as well as fantasy and sci-fi in general, ever since. I have played many RPGs starting with Chainmail and continuing with all the versions of D&D except 4th (3.5 is my favorite), GURPS, Middle Earth Role Playing, Rolemaster, Traveller, Space Opera, Paranoia, Robinhood, Star Wars, Star Trek, Pathfinder, you get the idea. I am new to the platform, but hope to bring an enjoyable RPG experience to anyone who shows up at the table. Initially, I am going to focus on running games set in Middle-earth using Free League's The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying 5E. I am most comfortable in that world and want to provide the best experience I can. I love the fact that Middle Earth is a Low-Magic setting with many epic stories still to be told. If you have any questions for me, feel free to send me a message.

How Dale runs games
I try to provide the experience players are looking for. I am certainly a fan of theater-of-the-mind. I will provide maps for players who need them to be able to better visualize the scenes. I am not a voice actor, so I apologize if that is the experience you are looking for. I do bring a deep love of Middle Earth to the table and, though I would not consider myself a Tolkien Scholar, I do have a depth and breadth of knowledge relating to Middle Earth that should provide an enjoyable, immersive experience for those at the table.
Dale's ideal table
My table lives in the space between epic poetry and intimate character drama. I run story-first, roleplay-forward campaigns where combat has consequences and quiet moments are just as important as battles. Expect rich atmosphere, a sense of living history, and a world that feels like it existed long before the players arrived. I do not shy away from tragedy, moral complexity, or the kind of hope that only means something because loss is real. Characters matter here. I run an individual Session 0 for every, for every campaign. I will use whatever safety tools players might need, and keep an open-door policy throughout. Your comfort at the table is as important as anything happening in the fiction.
