About Dara
Why hello everyone! Welcome to my little corner of StartPlaying where I hope we can embark on some wonderful adventures together. I got into TTRPGs through Dungeons and Dragons over 10 years ago but have since tried a number of other games and am hungry to get into even more. I love the infinite scope for adventure and intrigue that TTRPGs bring. To my mind, there is something thrilling about setting a world of mystery and adventure before a group of people and seeing what amazing stories arise from their minds. For me the real magic lies in seeing the players at my table forging their epic adventures together, facing off against mighty foes, unravelling macabre mysteries and discovering ancient secrets. Or maybe making a world wide tavern crawl. I want to weave together worlds from which people can tread their own paths and write their own monumental stories. Although I may make the worlds, it is the players who bring them to life. And I cannot wait to explore the stories that emerge.

How Dara runs games
As a GM I try to put my players fun first and foremost. At session 0 I set out to learn what each player wants from the campaign and give them those moments to shine; whether that is discovering ancient magical artifacts, interacting with whacky denizens of the world, exploring mysterious lands, or even simply hitting things with a magic sword! Within my games I love to throw in lots of combat and fights, from monsters to bandits to mages and more. Hordes of foes to single powerful villains. I want my players to feel as though each fight is a challenge, every victory earned. Each fight its own little puzzle to solve, or treat like the Gordian knot. One of the two. What I relish more than combat though is roleplay. Whether that is when my players reveal sordid secrets of Royalty, outwit ancient beings, and maybe sharing a joke or two between themselves. Or for myself as a DM getting into the characters I portray (with accompanying voices, well my best attempts at such anyway) and seeing what whacky interactions the players may have with them. I must confess though, as a player I love me some magic items, and as a DM that comes out as well. So expect to find plenty of magical doodads to satisfy a mad tinkerer, or ten. Finally, and most importantly for me, I want my games to be filled with comradarie; I find that there is nothing quiet as special in TTRPGs as when a group of people come together, share moments of cheer, fear, joy, wonder and surprise together to forge lasting memories and friendships.
