About GM Dave (CX)
Hello, my name is Dave, but I usually go by CX. I've run TTRPGs on and off for over twenty years. These games have mostly involved D&D and different White Wolf games, but I am open to any system. As a GM, I like to make sessions challenging and as engaging as possible, but not necessarily deadly. I am fairly easy going as long as everyone is having fun. When I am not playing, I collect a wide variety of TTRPGs and are always on the look out for new, innovative systems. I love technology, tinker with game design and do a little writing on the side.

I got started GMing...
I got started GMing when my friends and I wanted to play AD&D back in high school. We knew no one else who played, so I volunteered to run a game I'd never played or experienced. It was a lot, being a first-time GM and D&D player. But I loved it and have been hooked on GMing and TTRPGS ever since.
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Pathfinder/Starfinder 2e for its strong tactical combat and detailed subsystems. Fabula Ultima to handle all JRPG-style and anime-like games. For everything else, the Cypher System would be my choice. It features a well-balanced system that handles a multitude of genres without being too crunchy.
How GM Dave (CX) runs games
As a GM, I like to make sessions challenging and as engaging as possible, but not necessarily deadly. My preferences tend toward investigations, mysteries and puzzles. Combat should be interesting and fast-paced. Heists and chases are always a possibilities. Regardless of scenarios, my number one rule is that everyone should be having fun.

Rules are...
Rules are important for a quality and fair game session. They should add to the fun, but not hinder it. Unless there is an explicit rule that prevents a character's action, rules can be altered temporarily to give that character their "Cool" moment, depending on the situation.
GM Dave (CX)'s ideal table
My sessions tend to be more casual and story-driven. Depending on the genre, I prefer a mix of social interactions, combat, and exploration. I tend to focus on characters and the story, rather than the rules. Players should also have the freedom to direct the story in any direction they so choose, especially if it provides a better experience for the character.

I love it when a player
I love it when a player becomes proactive in the storytelling of the session, rather than just reactive. I enjoy it when the player helps expand the world, whether through dialogue or character background. It is more fun when players are just as engaged in the game world as the GM.
