About Lua Barras
I'm Lydia, I'm a transwoman and primarily a filmmaker! I have a lot of love and interest in storytelling and performing, which led me to playing Dungeons and Dragons and other TTRPGs. I've been an avid player for about 3 years now, playing in 2 full campaigns and currently running 1 campaign with my partner and friends, alongside the occasional one-shot. I got the idea to join StartPlaying as people kept reccomending me to their friends who wanted to play DnD and I wanted to open that up to more people! If you enjoy absurd romps around made up lands and silly voices, I am the GM of your dreams :)

My favorite shows/movies are
My background as a filmmaker has meant I've watched a lot of incredible films, researched into their themes and messages, spent hours reworking scripts and working with actors. Yet in my mind, no film is better than Iron Giant. It's a personal favourite. Otherwise, The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Energetic, hard to predict and "great" at coming up with names on the fly. My players are usually fans of my characters realism or lack there of, and find I always try and respond to what they're wanting out of a situation.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Usually writing, working on different projects from films to crafting. Otherwise spending time with friends, playing Magic, The Binding of Isaac or sat reading in the park.
How Lua Barras runs games
I'm a big fan of interchanging between humourous and often absurd situations, characters, or places and darker, realistic or gritty aeshetics for my sessions. I want the world my players are experiencing to fill vibrant and full of options, opinions and different outcomes. When I find what players best respond to, I often find myself catering a bit more to that vibe. In terms of gameplay, I find a healthy balance between roleplay, combat and problem solving the most enjoyable for everyone. I tend to focus more on what the players want to do more than anything, I prefer nothing than players finding their own way in a world and enjoying themselves however they please. I will guide players if I feel frustration or disappointment coming on the horizon, but the main plot and world is their to encourage the players- not dicate their every decision.
