About Scotty G
Hi, I have been a Games Master since 1984, beginning my lifelong love of ttrpg’s and Gming with AD&D. I have run a great variety of games over the years, and am especially fond of D&D, Traveller, C&S, Cyberpunk, Twilight 2000, White Wolf games, Aftermath and Star Trek. I am a married father and grandfather. My hobbies have included active participation in martial arts, Hema, Bohurt, 15th Century and Viking reenactment, literature and film, and occasional swordpunk festivals. I enjoy motorcycling and have recently retired from full time work. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate (I worked within the criminal justice system). I am always happy to respond to enquiries if you would like to make contact.

I ran my first game...
In 1983, I’d started gaming with a bunch of older kids having been intrigued by their conversation about Drow, Dwarves and characters on the school coach. After several sessions I was hooked and wanted to run sessions for the group.
I started running games because...
I love creating rich worlds and engaging with players to weave memorable stories and grow characters.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Reading, motorcycling, playing with swords, watching movies, socialising and following whims.
How Scotty G runs games
I enjoy offering dynamic sandboxes with colourful casts of npcs to provide a sense of life and vibrancy to the setting. Where player actions can impact the world around them, but npcs and events also create change. My games tend to favour interaction and action. I like to present cinematic and thrilling set pieces, characters are encouraged to be creative and active. Humour is welcome, as is tolerance and acceptance of each other at the table.
Scotty G's ideal table
In physical games I offer a table that seats 6 in reasonable comfort. If I host I provide tea and coffee, players bring their own or communal snacks. I like to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere, preferably with a cohesive and supportive vibe. I believe humour (and good humour) is really important. I am a qualified counsellor and have spent my career working in public service (including criminal justice and substance recovery work) and I consider myself to be an empathic and supportive individual. I like to encourage engagement and believe strongly in allowing the (guided) evolution of (positive) and unique dynamics for any given group. My regular mature group is quite lively, with a lot of banter and humour. For discord or teams play I believe in an adaptive approach. I am open to moving onto a more specialised platform as things develop.
