About Nathan
I have always had a passion for fantasy role-playing. Before DnD and Pathfinder this was solo, through video games (Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2) as well as Forgotten Realms novels. It took a charismatic online friend to get me to try DnD 5e online. Mastering the VTT was an initial hurdle but I was hooked and the looming pandemic provided fertile timeslots for a relatively inexperienced group. I've been running a long-form sandbox style campaign weekly for seven years, as well as 2-3 other module/AP games. I even transitioned a campaign from DnD5e to PF2e. I intend to throw myself into professional GMing, I enjoy talking with players about character options since players that are passionate enough about their characters to change or tweak them are engaged enough to care. My VTT of choice is Foundry and I believe I have a decent experience level building custom campaigns that I can aid new players learning the VTT.

I became a GM because
I love creating worlds and telling stories my players feel strongly about. Whether that feeling is rage or protection I enjoy designing scenarios that my players can feel. Role-playing is practice at being a hero.
My favorite books are
The Expanse series, and the Legend of Drizzt series
My favorite system of all Time is
PF2e
How Nathan runs games
I love running impactful story arcs, I try to make the worlds I create dynamic and cohesive. My preference is running long-form campaigns where the characters can affect the world environment and politics over the course of their growth. World building and story arcs are very important but every character is their own entity, they are not just the party, so including character specific narratives that can run parallel or tangential to the party narrative is something I find a passion in. Especially when players play in multiple campaigns and can interact with previously played characters. Player to player role-play is my favourite aspect of exploration or downtime within the PF2e system. I like tactical combat and use gridded maps through a VTT. My combat difficulty can vary and out of combat planning can usually lessen the difficulty of combat. I am inclined to run combat in the high-speed event that the rules portray such that exclamations during combat are perfectly fine but asking nuanced questions happens before or after combat, not during. My goal is to provide a living world to my players, a world that can feel their effects as they learn and grow but also one that can humble them into understanding that they are just a few of many that live in the worlds I create.

I once ran a session...
where only 2/5 players could make it. When the other 3 players returned, they were not excited to find that the guards were looking for the other party members in regards to a kidnapped child (it was an adult halfling, and they were innocent).
When it comes to voices
I prefer to describe the physicality of characters and adjust their diction and talking speed, rather than subject my players to my attempts at accents.

I love it when a player
engages with another player instead of me or an NPC
I think metagaming...
is entirely dependant on character and that character's environment. A level 1 adventurer that grew up with the threat of trolls should not need to roll a check to know that fire stops their regeneration.
My perfect party mix is
composed of players that enjoy their roles and feel their roles are being fulfilled with their agency.
