About ~Withershins~
I’m Withershins, creator of Enter the Rift and the voice behind Multiverse Drifters — a project built around cinematic storytelling, high-impact roleplay, and the strange little space where psychology, chaos, heavy music, and tabletop games all crash into each other at full speed. I’ve been involved in tabletop roleplaying games for over two decades as both a player and Game Master, with experience across traditional long-form campaigns, horror systems, narrative-first games, convention play, and fast-paced one-shot formats. Professionally, I work as a psychotherapist and organizational consultant, which probably explains why my games tend to focus heavily on tension, emotional momentum, decision-making under pressure, and the weird things people become when the lights start flickering. My GM style is fast, cinematic, character-driven, and collaborative. I care far less about rules mastery than I do about creating moments players remember afterward in the parking lot. I like stories where choices matter, momentum builds naturally, and the table feels alive. I run games with a strong focus on immersion, pacing, emotional payoff, and player agency — whether the tone is epic fantasy, dark sci-fi, psychological horror, or full-throttle action. These days, I exclusively run Enter the Rift, my own original rules-lite RPG system designed specifically for high-energy, story-focused play. The system was built to strip away unnecessary mechanical drag and deliver cinematic sessions

I got started GMing...
I got started GMing because I fell in love with the idea that a group of people could sit around a table and create something together that none of them could have made alone. What began as a hobby quickly became a lifelong passion for storytelling, worldbuilding, and helping players create memories

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be Dungeons & Dragons, because it's the game that introduced me to the hobby; Call of Cthulhu, because mystery and horror never get old; and Enter the Rift, because if I'm stranded on an island I might as well spend the time playtesting my own game.
My favorite books are
My favorite books are the ones that make the world feel bigger than it did before I opened them. I'm a longtime fan of epic fantasy, especially Malazan Book of the Fallen, Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere, Tolkien's Middle-earth, and Stephen King's Dark Tower series.
How ~Withershins~ runs games
I run fast, cinematic, story-driven games focused on momentum, atmosphere, and memorable character moments. My style leans heavily into immersive roleplay, high-pressure decision-making, dynamic combat, and collaborative storytelling where player choices genuinely shape the world around them. Expect: * Cinematic action and big heroic moments * Strong roleplay and character interaction * Dangerous, fast-moving encounters * Creative problem solving over rules-lawyering * Psychological tension, weird worlds, and escalating chaos * A balance of intensity, humor, and “this plan is either brilliant or catastrophic” I exclusively run Enter the Rift, my original rules-lite RPG system designed for fast onboarding and high-impact storytelling. Sessions are easy to learn, beginner-friendly, and built to feel like a movie you helped create. If you like dark fantasy, impossible choices, heavy atmosphere, and moments that spiral gloriously out of control, you’ll probably fit right in. You’ve been warned.

My favorite trope is the moment someone discovers they're capable of more than they ever imagined.
Rules are...
Rules are important—but they're never more important than the players.
~Withershins~'s ideal table
My table is collaborative, welcoming, and story-focused. I enjoy playing with people who are curious, engaged, respectful of others, and willing to contribute to the shared narrative. You do not need acting experience, system mastery, or a character voice to fit in. New players are welcome. The best players for my games are those who enjoy making meaningful decisions, exploring interesting situations, supporting their fellow players, and seeing where the story leads. The atmosphere tends to alternate between thoughtful, tense, humorous, and occasionally absurd—often within the same session. While the stories may explore serious themes, the table itself is relaxed and approachable. If you enjoy collaborative storytelling, creative problem-solving, character-driven moments, and the occasional unexpected turn that nobody saw coming, you'll likely fit in well here.

I think it's a red flag when players say "it's what my character would do" to justify making the game worse for everyone else.
