About TheRoomOfWhatever
Hi, welcome to TheRoomOfWhatever! My name is Robert and I have been playing D&D for 10+ years. I have almost entirely spent that time in 5e (and am playing around now with 5.5e), but I have also done a few things here and there with the Star Wars TTRPG in the past. While I love and take every opportunity I can to jump into a game as a PC, I have mostly spent my time the last 7-8 years sitting in the DM chair! With that, I have started working on my own world to play my games in; with every one-shot, mini-campaign, and full campaign, I get to let the players breathe life and impact the way the world is shaped for future players. I definitely lean into the “rule of cool” when I can, while also keeping the balance of the game fair for everyone involved. I really enjoy getting to meet new people who share similar passions to me and am always open to constructive criticism. My number one goal when DMing is to make sure everyone has fun and is given an environment to thrive in with every game. I know I am not perfect at every aspect of D&D, but I will do my very best and keep improving after every experience.

I got started GMing...
When I went to College I wanted to keep playing D&D but none of the people I met had ever played before. So I took it upon myself to run the game and brought in a bunch of friends to play and learn the game. I always loved telling and writing stories so it was very fun to be creative in a new way.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Watching & hanging out with my kids they keep me plenty busy, working on creating and expanding my D&D world, and gaming with my friends.
How TheRoomOfWhatever runs games
When running a game, I really try to tailor it to the players. I enjoy running plenty of combat and making people feel like a superhero! I also enjoy spending two hours in a city talking to all the locals. I can give an outline to my general set up, then begin to dot the i's and cross the t's using information the players provide about what they would like to see or do. Working in parts of their own backstories is important for me to make the game feel more personable. I love crafting a world that the players can feel like they step into effortlessly. I want everyone at the game to get along and build a funny, happy, tragic, or chaotic story together. Giving a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere to anyone willing to come and play at my table is my highest priority.
