About Sam
I’m a passionate tabletop roleplaying game GM who loves bringing immersive stories to life and creating welcoming tables for players of all experience levels. I’ve been involved in tabletop RPGs for about nine years now, both as a player and as a Game Master. During that time I’ve run a wide range of games, starting with 5e and Curse Of Strahd, before eventually moving to more homebrew stories and worlds (though that wasn't a huge jump for me after my players' catastrophic blunders in the second town of Barovia, I effectively had to rewrite the module from the ground up). I especially enjoy helping new players discover how fun and collaborative tabletop gaming can be, while also giving experienced players meaningful choices, memorable NPCs, and exciting challenges.

I got started GMing...
Over the pandemic as I found myself with a lot of time on my hands and needed my TTRPG fix. I ran Curse Of Strahd as I was curious about pre-written modules having only played homebrew. Little did I know my players' shocking incompetence meant I basically had to homebrew most of the adventure!
My favorite system of all Time is
Pathfinder 2e! I think it's the perfect balance of tactics, encouraging teamwork and interparty synergies, and character options that help inform the roleplay (and vice versa). Now I've tried Pathfinder, I just can't bear to go back to 5e.
How Sam runs games
My GM style focuses on three core things: player agency, strong storytelling, and a fun table atmosphere. I love to build worlds that react to player decisions with rippling consequences while making sure every character has moments to shine. Whether it's homebrew or a pre-written adventure path I look to weave in character backstories with the main story and events to ensure player buy-in. Whether it’s tense combat, clever problem-solving, or emotional roleplay scenes, I aim to create sessions where players feel engaged and excited about what happens next. My players have described me as 'hag-brained' in how devious my plots and set-ups can be and tugging at those emotional heartstrings when it counts.

I love it when a player
Comes with character flaws and plays them well. Bonus points if we get that sweet sweet character development where they're able to overcome those flaws.
I think min/maxing...
Is best saved for optimising a sub-optimal character concept.
