About Aidan
My name is Aidan Ward, and I run The Inn Between, a queer fantasy roleplaying community in London. I have been a Dungeon Master for over four years and have run thousands of hours of games. I am a “yes, and” person when it comes to roleplay, but I also make sure we stick closely to the rules and internal logic, so nothing breaks the game or immersion. I run sandbox and open-world D&D. Those are not just buzzwords. I am all about freedom of choice and making sure players never feel railroaded.

I'm probably planning them!
How Aidan runs games
I love roleplay and character-oriented games. I want characters at the table to feel like they are part of the world, not some ephemeral thing floating on top of the story. I think it’s really important for players to have backstories that tie them to people and places in the world. I also approach combat as a life-or-death scenario. Violence should always be a last resort, and one that feels like your life is very much on the line. You’ll find no plot armour here. Lastly, consequences. I have a penchant for remembering the things my players did and bringing them up later, to truly make the world feel living, breathing, and reactive.
Aidan's ideal table
My table style is roleplay heavy, I like players to be immersed in the story, reacting to the environment and people around them. I do my best to make the world reactive and feel like a living breathing place. Combat is something that happens but it should be feel like a last resort, and every occasion with spells or swords should feel life threatening.
