About Sean O'Regan
I have been playing tabletop games since 2003. Starting with the Lord of the Rings strategy battle game. In 2007 I started Warhammer 40k 4th edition. 2011 I was a sales assistant in a LFGS playeing system like Warmachine 2nd, Warhammer 5th edition, Magic the Gathering, Infinity the game, Dropzone commander. In 2016 I was introduced to the Fantasy Flight Warhammer 40k TTRPG systems. I ran a Deathwatch one shot at the time that failed spectacularly. In 2022 I ran a Deathwatch campaign for 5 players dropping to 3 and eventually ending after 2 years. While the game hasn't got any players that hasn't stopped me from tinkering with roll20, building out a macro engine that streamlines combat, Building maps and environments, World building. Building stat blocks in roll20. All that to say, I'm thoughly prepared and ready to play.

I became a GM because
The COVID lockdown disrupted my life and gave me the time back I normally spent playing Warhammer to invest into running RPGs online with my friends.
My favorite books are
The Disc World series by Terry Pratchett.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Looking after my wife and kids as a house spouse.
How Sean O'Regan runs games
I like creating maps and environments from my college diploma in 3D graphics and video game design. Grounded in systems realism of the 41st millennium. A combination of real world physics and sci-fi fantasy. Roleplay is light even if the tone is dark, deliberate space being left to allow for it. And mechanical systems within the game to reward it.

I prep by
Taking a couple of evenings a week crafting maps, tweaking values and general thinking about the directions the players are looking to go.
My games focus on...
Capturing the suspicion of the 40k universe. And delivering high intensity, low stakes, combat. Player Character development and NPC companion relationships.
Rules are...
They are old, dense, and scattered across books. Learning systems like that can be supported by homebrew which add flavour and function to an older style of TTRPG.
Sean O'Regan's ideal table
Generally, kind and amicable men. Very patient. Full of laughter and grace. And equally bitter at the dice.

I love it when a player
Leans into the roleplay bonus, which I reward both as dice buffs and xp rewards at the end.
I think metagaming...
Is fun. And especially if you craft a lore around it. Some of my favourite characters are built as cobbled together hybrids exploiting a combo, or gaining insane abilities.
My table is not the place for...
Open world, sandbox adventures. The game will have adventures but it will be in a direction with soft beats that queue off of player actions.
