I got started GMing...

I started GMing about twenty years ago after a friend introduced me to D&D 3.5. One game turned into years of weekends at the table, and I eventually took over as GM. I’ve stuck with it ever since because I genuinely love it. I eventually moved to DND 5e and now to Pathfinder 2e.

My favorite books are

My favorite books are all series. Lord of the Rings hooked me young, Eragon was perfect for me growing up, and The Dark Tower grabbed me later with its darker, refreshing tone, and Call of Cthulhu was my first foray into cosmic horror.

My favorite system of all Time is

My favorite system of all time, would be Pathfinder 2e. The freedom of the three action economy, as well as the nearly limitless customization with all its feats make it really fun, as well as the rules being crunchier and more in depth then Dnd 5e but still in a way that makes sense.

How Roman Saltkill runs games

I’d describe my GM style in two parts. First, I’m my players’ hype man. I want you to take the risk and try the cool thing. If you’re excited about an idea, I’m right there with you, hoping you succeed, looking for a way to make it work. I still keep the game grounded, though, so when those big moments happen, they feel earned and not like handouts. Second, my games tend to be a bit more challenging. I enjoy encounters that challenge players to think and adapt, utilizing every tool in their arsenal, because a hero needs something tangible to overcome. Without a good challenge, there’s no story worth telling. I want each character to have a moment where they rise to the occasion and walk away with something exciting to remember.

I once ran a session...

Where I had a new player who had not played much TTRPG's and the party were fighting a dragon. That player decided to climb up a cliff, and did an elbow drop onto the Dragon and with a Natural 20 on his athletics check he knocked the dragon out of the sky, it was a moment I will always remember.

My games focus on...

My games are all about moments. I want everyone at the table to get that one scene where they do something cool, something they’ll remember and talk about later. If each player walks away with a story they’re excited to tell, then I’ve done my job.

Rules are...

Rules are important and they matter because they give the game structure and keep it from turning into a pile of random ideas. They help us tell a story that feels fair and consistent. I try to run things as intended, sticking close to the rules as written while keeping the game moving and fun.

Roman Saltkill's ideal table

My ideal table is a mix of creativity and teamwork. I love players who take big swings, think tactically, and support each other’s moments. If you’re here to have fun, try bold ideas, and enjoy a good challenge, this is your kind of table.

I am for a vibe that's...

Is about respect and fun. I want everyone at my table to be respected and have a good time, getting to enjoy the games that we all like to play. We can have as much fun as you want only if we can all respect each other.

I love it when a player

Has a crazy idea, that they are not sure if it will work. Then we can try to find a way to make it happen.
