About Antoine
I've been living in fantasy worlds since I was in middle school and my brother and I began buying D&D AD&D and 3.5e books from our local used bookstore. Although I didn't start playing until high school and didn't start running games until after college I poured over resource books, made characters, crafted encounters, and dreamed up stories of far away lands. I ran the open play store game for the comic shop I worked at after undergrad meaning that flexibility and improv in story telling had to be the first skills I honed. Any amount of players could show up on a given night and allowing for story to be meaningful to those that were at the table was of utmost importance. After my time at the store I took a little break during an out of state move but quickly picked DMing back up once new friends were made. My current group has been together since 2018 and we've journeyed through home brew worlds and adjusted pre-made modules. My free time is spent walking my dog, a Shiba Inu named Aiko, or cuddling with my two Sphynx cats, Giorno and Lisa Lisa. I also dance whenever possible at Book Club Radio in NYC and am hoping to get into a Master's in Theological Studies program at Duke.

How Antoine runs games
I've been described as fair, grounded, and curious by players and that I'm open to surprises. To me that translates in my own understanding of the benefit of improv at a table while maintaining the bounds of the world that have been agreed upon prior to the start of the adventure. We can improvise the use of a dramamine like concoction for a boat trip but the boat won't have an oil engine in a high fantasy setting. Strengths: Improv, flexibility, willingness to engage with player curiosity, world building, Role play Weaknesses: Tactical combat, Distribution of loot, Timely subplot follow through.

I deal with rules issues by...
finding the best option for the particular story beat and going back post game to see how it could be dealt with in the future.
Rules are...
A vital part of structuring the bounds of play such that imagination can push against those boundaries and grow, while also being fully meaningless! We use rules to help us tell the story in rich and interesting ways while allowing ourselves to bend the rules when they threaten to stop the flow.
Antoine's ideal table
I love a table that is enjoys roleplay amongst themselves, and veers towards flavor in their actions. I love a table with breadth that can go from whimsy to serious and everything in-between. The beauty with collaborative story telling however is that with an open mind you can learn how to tell stories that suit the table, so ultimately any table can be a good table.

I think min/maxing...
isn't for me whenever I play only because I find the challenges associated with lower ability scores more interesting for the story.
My table is not the place for...
those without a curious heart, an open mind, or a love of adventure. Be open to the unfamiliar and stretch yourself towards new horizons of what a story can be!
