About Craige
Hi all, I enjoy creating and running collaborative tabletop roleplaying games where players and referee build stories together. I’ve been playing and refereeing since the late 1970s and early 1980s, with experience across Traveller, RuneQuest, Dungeons & Dragons, and other systems. I also enjoy reading and collecting rulebooks—there’s something particularly satisfying about well-designed systems and the worlds they support. My primary focus is Traveller, and I run a long-developed Classic Traveller-based campaign set in the “Golden Era” style of play. I also continue to develop my skills as a referee in D&D 3.5, and Rokugan which I value for its consistency and flexibility in supporting structured play and world-building. Since around 2020, I have been running and playing online, and I’ve come to appreciate the strengths of virtual tabletops for pacing, preparation, and clarity at the table. More recently, I’ve also been exploring the use of language models as a creative support tool in campaign development and preparation. I’m always interested in meeting new players who enjoy engaging grounded science fiction and fantasy, shared storytelling, and collaborative world-building. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Regards, Craige

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Traveller Classic Traveller, MegaTraveller, New Era, T4, and T5. Complete survival toolkit. Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 including Oriental Adventures and Rokugan setting. Tactical guide for natives. Runequest poetic powerful mythic prose. Need to build a small library wing ...
My favorite books are
authored by Asimov, Banks, Le Guin.
When I'm not running games I'm...
at home reading and studying, or out walking with my wife, Tina; or entertaining our two dogs Marte and Sapphire.
How Craige runs games
Hi, call me Craige. I am a retired Registered Nurse, having served the community for 30 years. I began playing RPGs in the early 1980s, when maps were drawn in pencil and campaigns relied on attention, memory, and trust. That habit of listening at the table has stayed with me ever since. I’ve played and run games including Call of Cthulhu, Dungeons & Dragons, Traveller, RuneQuest, and others. D&D 3.5 remains a particular favourite for its structured yet flexible approach to play. Traveller stands out for its depth of setting and its focus on ordinary people living their lives in extraordinary circumstances, rather than heroic archetypes. My GM style is deliberate rather than frenetic. I value continuity, consequence, and collaboration. I enjoy it when players remember NPCs, past decisions, and shared history, because it means the world has become meaningful to them. I aim for a friendly, cooperative table rather than an adversarial one. I am happy to teach rules, explain rulings, and adjust pacing where needed. Rules are taken seriously, interpreted thoughtfully, and occasionally bent when it serves the story without replacing it. My games are slow-burn, story-driven, and character-focused. Mood, pacing, and attention matter. Rules guide play rather than constrain it. Respect, inclusivity, and shared spotlight are central to the table. If you are looking for a thoughtful, collaborative game that rewards attention and long-term play, you may find a good place here. Thanks.
Craige's ideal table
An ideal table is a regular group of players who enjoy consistent sessions, mutual respect, and collaborative play while getting to know wheir characters and the world around them. Players take time to understand each other’s preferences, remain attentive to one another’s enjoyment of the game, share the spotlight, and engage with the story, the setting, and the consequences of their choices. Over time, taking notes and following developing story arcs helps familiarity and trust naturally grow at the table. Sessions are something the group looks forward to, both for the game itself and for the shared experience of problem-solving, storytelling, collaboration, and conversation.

I love it when a player
engages deeply with the setting—for example, setting a goal of learning Starship Architect skill to design their first starship and deck plans, seeing it come to fruition within the Traveller universe.
I think metagaming...
when used constructively, is welcomed. It can help refine character backgrounds, align expectations, and strengthen shared understanding of the group’s story.
My table is not the place for...
Secrecy. This is a cooperative table. Play is not about working against other players or concealing core character capabilities from the group, such as psionics. The focus is on mature, open collaboration building a coherent shared experience to have fun.
