About The Man of Long Letters

I have been playing for 15 years and GMing for 10. I love new players, new groups, getting to know new people, and most of all running D&D! TTRPG's are my passion along with Voice acting, art, and music production. I use all of those passions to run my games and I feel that over my experience with running games I've developed those skills to be able to create incredible experiences for my players!

I got started GMing...

After playing some awesome games with a long-time friend of mine who ran games for my friend group for years, and still does! J, if you're reading this, my passion for GMing started with you. (It's all your fault.)

My favorite system of all Time is

My favorite system to play is 3.5. What can I say? Big numbers and lots and lots of math. Real, real sexy. But favorite to RUN by far is 5e14. (Yes, yes, I know. I'm just not entirely certain with 24 yet. I'll be running it soon, I promise, don't hit me!)

When I'm not running games I'm...

Making digital character/concept art! If i'm not doing that I'm producing music, writing, or hanging with my wife and children. (Lame Dad jokes will be present in some capacity in all games; fair warning.) Other than that, catch me occasionally logging a few hours gaming on PC!

How The Man of Long Letters runs games

I am a very cinematic, narrative, and experience- oriented DM. I write and make music for my games along with art and special tokens for the players. I am a very competent voice actor (though I don't have a professional portfolio, as I've never been hired to do VA professionally) and I'm very good at improv. I build my campaigns around my players and highlight character arc and development above all else. The rule of cool and rule zero are law at my tables, and all in all, my goal is always the fun of my players above everything else! My preferrede split is 60/40 with the lion's share being roleplay. I love running combat, buuuut then there's the unalterable draw of the masquerade ball session, the beach session, and the "Party after killing the dragon" session. They sustain me.

My favorite trope is...

Classic Found Family. I think it's at the base of all great roleplaying experiences. Becoming a family of these misfits who found eachother in an unforgiving world and make, in some small measure, a peaceful and safe place for themselves.

My games focus on...

Characters. You guys! I want to know how YOUT story starts and ends. I want to know how you, through the veil of your character, processes the world in which they find themselves, and once I know, I want to craft a narrative that reveals them to their core and examines their hearts and minds.

When it comes to voices

I have a million of'em! And I encourage my players to use theirs as well! Even if you don't have that accent down yet, give it a try! We're here to play pretend, so play! We will support your manic slavic barbarian, your french bard, your columbian rogue, whatever you've got, bring it!

The Man of Long Letters's ideal table

I love a group who can riff on a good joke, but not drive it into a wall, and people who can suspend their disbelief (And their substantial knowledge of the rules) In favor of the story, the experience, the dance of it all! It is, above all, imperative that the story is written and remembered. Without our stories, who are we? Temporary whisps in the winds of life, hoping to effect the meaningful and inspire the new, that we may live beyong the thin and ever-waning veil of our own mortality. Also, Quibble Quabble the Goblin Grenadier launching piss missiles at the dragon while he tries to monologue is funny.

I am for a vibe that's...

Colorful! You want a full face of makeup even though it's not "Period-Correct?" Honey come full beat and slay them all. You want a mechanical hand with a sword attatchment instead of just a longsword? That's awesome and I'd LOVE to design it for you! I'm here to find a way for your thing to be real.

I love it when a player

Tells me how they do things! How do you cast firebolt? How do you hit the goblin? Are you smooth and calculating when you fight, or maybe clumsy and ill-prepared, flying by the seat of your pants? Tell me! I wanna make it cool with you, not always for you. Remember, I'm not telling the story WE are.
