About Fulgurite

I am a veteran DM with over 10 years of experience, as well as a counseling psychologist, I like to run games with deep immersion, interesting and three dimensional NPCs, thorough worldbuilding, and tactical battles. I am hosting games on this site because I want to play with players who are actually engaged with the game and do not just start playing with their phones simply because its not their turn. What I can DM for: Adventure Fantasy High Fantasy Post Apocalyptic Sci-fi Space Operas Survival Urban Fantasy What I will not DM for: Fetishes Edgy/Overwhelmingly Grimdark My Personal Interests: Anime (Fate is my preferred poison, but Durarara!! and Code Geass are also subject to bi-annual rewatches from me) Manga (Please read Kingdom, it's actually criminal how little you hear about it in the West) Psychology Video Games (Including League of Legends, you may cut me down if you wish. Also, Faker's the GOAT) World History I also enjoy swimming and ping pong I hope you will come and try out some games.

I got started GMing...

I began when I was 14, at that time a friend of mine introduced a bunch of our friends and I to Dungeons and Dragons. Due to being a Fate fan, I love learning about lore with convoluted histories, so I was immediately researching D&D's, and just like that, I was doomed to become a forever DM.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Thorough: Once I created a continent spanning empire with 45 provinces and I gave each province a history, GDP, and map. Engaging: I love melding the backstory of my players to the fabric of my worldbuilding. Unlucky: I once built up a lich across 6 weeks. It died in 1 round via 4 sorcadin crits.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Aside from working my main job as a therapist, I am usually either watching anime, swimming, or playing videogames, if I'm watching something like Fate/Zero, or Durarara!! If I'm playing games I'm either playing Monster Hunter or League. And if I'm swimming I'm probably doing the front crawl.

How Fulgurite runs games

I like to create worlds that are immersive, complex, and thought out, the NPCs of world that you encounter will each be their own three-dimensional characters. The decisions you make as a player will matter, and depends on what you do, could literally change the world. I want to run games that are compelling and deep enough for you to feel like its actually worth your investment. The combat will also be very tactical and sophisticated, it's not going to be absurdly hard, but it will also not be a walk in the park. Lastly, the tone of the games I run will generally be quite serious, and will move at a moderate or fast pace, depending on the game.

I deal with rules issues by...

We play the session out first, if the rule violation is major we will save it from a group conversation after the session, if it is minor, an 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 will be enough, I will not break the flow the session for everyone because of a single rules dispute.

Rules are...

DO: Contact me if you have concerns. Let someone know if you're uncomfortable. Min/max and optimize if you want (I get to use fun homebrew monsters I never get to use). Don't: Bring your fetishes to the game. Be a rules lawyer, especially if we've already used rule of cool. Be a murderhobo.

When it comes to voices

I will do my best to voice act, although I am not the best at it, if you wish to voice act your character, great, but otherwise, I will not force you.

Fulgurite's ideal table

I like to run immersive games with a good balance of roleplay and combat, the more in-character you act as your PC the better it will be. I do not care for overly dark/edgy settings and themes such as the likes of Warhammer 40K. I am a very open and accommodating DM, if you have any problems please do not hesitate to talk with me in private, don't worry, you are never being a burden or a pain, RPGs are best when everyone is happy.

I love it when a player

Nothing makes me happier than when a player actually investigates the background of the NPCs they engage with, even better if they are taking notes. In combat, I love when players play tactically, and actually think through their actions, and makes use of terrain, CHOKEPOINTS AREN'T DECORATIONS!!!

I think metagaming...

Metagaming is fine in combat, but not good when roleplaying, either way thought your character should have a reasonable explanation for why or how they know the information that they do, for instance, a wandering vagrant is unlikely to know the exact who's who of the emperor's imperial court.

I think min/maxing...

Min/maxing is great, I personally love running games for very powerful parties, it forces me to be more creative when designing encounters for the players, and it lets me play with the idea that the players are an actually pivotal force of the setting,
