About Andres Cappiello

I'm a writer and film-critic from Argentina, currently residing in Italy. I've been a GM for 20 years, running campaigns for D&D, Savage Worlds, and World of Darkness (we all have an edgy phase). My main love is for the Eberron campaign setting, where I run most of my campaigns. I love the fun, camaraderie, and creative collaboration of TTRPGs. More of a Brian Murphy than a Matt Mercer, if you will.

I got started GMing...

in college, played one game and immediately knew I wanted to be a GM.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

5e for the D&D experience, Savage Worlds for a system that adapts well to many styles, Kids on Bikes for light fun.

When I'm not running games I'm...

At a wine bar or cafe, reading or with friends.

How Andres Cappiello runs games

I love creating character-centric campaigns, working with my players to deeply insert their backstories into the main narrative. I love creating and roleplaying NPCs, and I'm quite experienced in improvisational roleplay. My games tend to have many mysteries and social interactions, with combats being larger scenes of narrative importance, and not many irrelevant encounters only for the grind or resource consumption. I enjoy lots of humor in my games, but will not avoid the serious moments when they arrive. I only run published settings, with particular experience in Eberron.

Andres Cappiello's ideal table

My ideal table knows how to mix humor and seriousness, that can be silly at times, and respect the dramatic moments as well. I like players who care about the campaign's world and its inhabitants, and that are not just pursuing a power fantasy. And above all, that always remember that we're all crafting a fun story together.

I am for a vibe that's...

fun and lighthearted, with no fear of moments of seriousness in between.

I think it's a red flag when players...

behave as if their characters know they are the main characters on the story.

My table is not the place for...

extremes in style. I put humor in all my games, but if you take nothing seriously, it won't work. I put serious moments in my games, but if you cannot enjoy humor, it won't work. Both are always in balance.
