About Shelby

I have been making homebrew one-shots and campaings for about 3-4 years now! I am RP focused and will use your backstory in the campain (for better or worse). If you like puzzles, mystery, and deep realtionships, I'm your GM!

I became a GM because

I got tired of not playing pathfinder, so I decided to start my own game with some friends in Grad School. Had an absolute blast and the ideas for more one-shots and campaigns kept flowing.

My favorite books are

"The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" series

My favorite system of all Time is

Pathfinder 2e

How Shelby runs games

My campaings are roleplay forward, focused on weaving player backstory into the main plot. My one-shots are puzzle forward, with combat included towards the end. "There is no such thing as Resistance to Emotional Damage"

My games focus on...

The story. The action of the campaign is but a blip on the larger scale workings of the world. You may not have all the answers by the end of the campaign. That's okay! You're not ment to. There is so much plot happening behind the scenes that getting to know everything is not reasonable.

Rules are...

The guidelines for the system. The GM has the final say, but I am absolutely open to players asking me to bend rules to achieve a certain result. While some things that I deny may not seem game-breaking, they may be plot-breaking for something later on. Feel free to ask about rules!

When it comes to voices

I love doing voices. Do my accents bleed together after about 10 min? Yes. Do I forget what a character sounds like and make it up all over again? Yes. Would I ever stop doing voices? Never.

Shelby's ideal table

My table is typically very relaxed. I love to run stories with heavy and challenging elements, mostly because I am molding to the player's backstories. I have played with theatre and non-theatre people, so there is no pressure to act above and beyond. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and cheer at the various elements woven into my campaigns. I also have a curse making my players crit WAY to much. Oh well.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Having your character's worldview and goals challenged.

I love it when a player

Uses their own voices and accents to flesh out their character. I'll use that and create similar ones for NPC ancestires and relationships.

I think min/maxing...

Is incredible! Make a character that does a cool thing really well! Be warned, there is more to my games than just combat. Every character will be challenged to go outside of their comfort zone/cool thing. But by all means, break my games.
