About Shane Wells

About me? Well, when I was in the 5th grade I had to sell candy under the table to kids at my school to afford new shoes so my socks weren't wet during winter because of the massive holes in my soles. An odd thing to say? Perhaps, but an example of creativity and adaptability from the start! Well, and that example is one detail why many times I have been told my life could be a book. I think I would have to agree. It is true. I have lived an adventure. I met some extraordinary people along the way, for whom without I likely would have perished on my journey. I certainly had some tragic plot hooks. Sometimes convinced there was no hope in sight. Forced to push forward against the universes assorted adversities with every ounce of mental and physical fortitude one could muster until finally crying for joy as the light at the end of the tunnel finally comes into view. That is what I hope I give to my table. An adventure with memorable characters and memories that bring back a range of emotions felt during the game. An adventure with conflicts internal, external, societal... and more. An adventure where you know there is hope even in the darkest times. An adventure where you know YOU shape your destiny no matter what the world is throwing at you. OH AND HOW THINGS SHALL BE THROWN. I have been playing pathfinder 1e both as a player and DM for 6 years now on regular basis. I use Foundry VTT to host my games. I bring boundary setting and conflict skills essential for good games.

How Shane Wells runs games

I struggle to imagine how I could answer this without knowing the party at hand! I suppose that makes me quite the sandbox. For instance, how can I say I love to craft tactical, high-stakes combat, if the party decides they would rather look for every alternative to combat? Okay I lied I still loved making the combat but I am excited to see the other solutions you come up with just as much, if not more! Roleplay is the most important aspect of the game, and if your roleplay style leans towards combat you will certainly find it. If your roleplay style leans towards chaos, risk and reward in equal measures, or something else, you'll likely find it.. eventually. It isn't all fun and gaming, sadly. The most important aspect of Gm'ing is boundary setting and conflict resolution at the table. Players will often not feel comfortable advocating for their discomfort as it can feel like going against the group. Making sure players are not capable of stealing others moments, not capable of making you uncomfortable, and not capable of ruining games. My goal is to be as clear and concise about those expectations from session 0 on, as anything that is clearly defined is grounds for immediate removal For more nuanced issues an attempt at remediation would usually be made before removal. With the big nasty issues out of the way, it is easy to help good parties overcome any disagreements they may have along their adventure.
