About Alex Garcia
Hello! I'm Alexandra but please feel free to call me Alex or Fay (part of my normal username online). I'm a 30s cat mom and professional artist who LOVES telling stories. I've been hosing and writing in collaborative writing and role playing spaces online for nearly 18 years. I've been DMing specifically for just over 5 years now. My goal in my games is for players to have low bar entry games and to just have fun. I care more about an interwoven story and "the rule of cool" than stricter games. Homebrew is my friend! I keep my games rather clean, preferably focusing on action and dark mysteries and keeping NSFW and sexual topics out of arms reach. I actually am a rare DM where I'm open to hosting family games! My story topics can range all across the board in the speculative fiction genre. I prefer dark mysteries, world building lore drops, and plenty of shenanigans. Actually, that's what my players love the most! I keep plenty of quirky shenanigans and comic relief moments handy to balance out other character moments.

I became a GM because
I didn't see the games I wanted to see out there! I also really wanted to encourage new players to jump in and make friends. Cuz sometimes we just want to have a fun Tuesday evening and play a game!
My favorite shows/movies are
Some of my fav movies in no particular order are: Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Beauty and the Beast, Inception, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Batman: Under the Red Hood, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Fav anime? Erased.
How Alex Garcia runs games
Role play and character building is a big must for me! Since I enjoy more fun and quirky based characters, you're welcome to bring those characters to the table too. Though, I've found that semi serious characters interact best with other player characters, and when interacting with... say a random wizard thief who just came flying in on a giant condor named Frida and his two henchman Kobolds. I always try to pull in every player and character at my table so that hopefully there's something fun for everyone each session. Combat exists. I keep trying to get better at combat, and frankly it's always okay to correct me. If you can debate for good or bad, I may just with it for the sake of the story. I may be pulling my punches as a DM anyway! Overall, we're all here to have fun. Have fun improving, or "yes, and-ing" things. Bring ideas to me as the DM that I can weave into the story, or just come along for the journey. We're all busy adults and I want people to be laughing and curious of what will happen next. (PS, I really enjoy morally grey characters as I enjoy character development and redemption stories. Good vs Evil, power of friendship, and underdog tales are always part of the stories I tell.)

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Probably a shounen anime director. HA! Equal parts action and comedic moments.
My favorite trope is...
Starting stories off small and then realizing more is going on behind the scenes! Underdog chosen ones? Overpowered weirdos? I love stuff like this.
Alex Garcia's ideal table
Primarily players who are general busy adults or casual players where we are understanding of life and such. I stick to a goal for a session and try to not waste time (again, we're busy adults!), but if you're someone who is very particular about starting right on time and a stickler for rules, my table is definitely not for you. I want to encourage roleplay and a friendly table. We could be doing a lot of other things on a weekday evening, so being social and creative is the goal. Just pay attention to when it's your turn if you're cooking dinner in the background!
