About Christopher

Hello! I started playing in middle school with DnD 3.5 and have been playing for roughly 16 years now. Initially only was a player for a while but over time I've been GM-ing pretty consistently when in high school. I took a break from ttrpgs in general for a while however around 4 years ago I got back into it with Pathfinder 2e. Ever since I got back into it I've been only GM-ing with being a player here and there. I've been primarily GM-ing online with a little bit of in person here and there, with Foundry being my preferred way to play after a bit of Roll20. I look forward to hosting games on foundry and being able to create some great memories!

I became a GM because

I love the social elements of the hobby primarily. I enjoy facilitating an environment for people new or recurring to open up and play some games. TTRPGs have a very unique quality to them that no other hobby has, and it always leaves way to creating incredible memories and stories.

I got started GMing...

In High School, when I wanted to form and play with a group of people who didn't know anything about TTRPGs.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Either preparing for my games or keeping up (or trying to) with video games I have in my collection. Lately I've been getting into MTG but I do play at arcades here and there for rhythm games.

How Christopher runs games

I enjoy a mix of roleplay and gameplay. Generally I focus on the mechanical aspect of the game, between combat and elements of traversing the many perils that await. I do my best to get an idea of the desired experience among my player by speaking to everybody session zero of what expectations are desired. I generally keep the RP a bit light just based on my typical players, I'll do voices and mimic the mannerisms of various npcs however I try to keep it measured and not distract the game from the mechanics that my chosen system adopts, my goal is to provide a good experience for everybody at the table and typically my audience is varied in what is desired from me.

I prep by

Doing a lot of reading, testing of effects, and curating music and noises as much as I can. I do my best to be top notch in presentation, and I like to be very well prepared so that I'm flexible to my players and have no time wasted for sessions.

Rules are...

Important for the sake of consistency, however they are there to provide a good baseline for the experience. I do abide by the rules almost all the time, however every now and then something ends up challenging them, so I will typically provide an opportunity to discuss and have it consistent.

When it comes to voices

I change it based on my players. A lot of players I play with typically aren't super into the roleplaying as far as voices go, so I don't typically do them. However I'm always down to do them if it elevates the roleplay, I need the practice anyways.

Christopher's ideal table

Comfortable is the key, we don't need to always be dialed in one hundred percent. I like to keep things relaxed and enjoyable, some talking or joking on the side here and there is always welcome so long as it doesn't distract from the game. The hours set to play is set for that, and my table and I recognize that ideally. All the fun and distracted chatter can be after the game.

I am for a vibe that's...

Relaxed and fun, it makes for a good contrast when everyone gets engaged due to a situation that becomes potentially dire in game.

I love it when a player

Surprises me with an action that I didn't consider. Or when a player does something for the sake of their character even if it proves to be inoptimal or even disastrous for their items, abilities or whatnot.

I think metagaming...

Is very lame and really ruins the mood for the table. We are all here to play characters and have them enact in an evolving journey for development. Metagaming tends to really ruin the mood for players that are in for the excitement of things being mysterious.
