About Marc

One of the forever GM's. I have been on that side of the table for 15 years at this point. I speak Hungarian and English and have been a GM for 5 years using the latter. I've tried out a lot of different systems over the years and also did my fair share of homebrew. I have experience with both Western and Eastern/anime style TRPG's. I also run a lot of systems that are so niche that they are not on the list for games on this site. Some of them are fun translated like Log Horizon TRP or Nechronica. Also, I played more "edgy" systems like Infernum. I am very flexible and one of those GM who actually can run an Evil campaign. I am also comfortable with forbidden love concepts and erotica at my table. It's hard to say something to me that would give me the hard NO! Mostly, the limit is what the players agree on and what is within the TOS boundaries. I always run custom games instead of adventure modules. As I find that those limit the player's expression a lot. I'm mainly a theater of mind kinda guy, using minimal visual tools on roll20 for the same reason. Adding custom systems to a game is second nature to me at this point. So if you want to add a base management system, a custom crafting system, or anything similar, I 100% up for it. I am also new player friendly and happily help TRPG virgins get a good first experience.

My favorite books are

Visual novels are book++ so Umineko/Higurashi no naku koro ni and Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni is one of my all time favorite. Also Snoot game is anamazing one too. Starship trooper, Emily the strange books and Alice in wonderland also dearly loved books by me among a lot of others.

My favorite shows/movies are

If we talking about SCI-FI it's Babylon 5, wich isin my opinion the best one that they ever made. If it's fantasy then the Lord of the ring movie trilogy. My favorite anime OVA is Le portrait the petite cosette. Anime movie is No game no life zero and one of my most beloved series is Hell girl.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working on a magical girl TRPG system, draw pixel art and animations or write stories. I love cooking, read books and watch shows with deep stortelling and intresting settings and ideas.

How Marc runs games

Immersing yourself in your character's fantasy is the most important thing. The NPC's and the world fate that the players make with their actions is of utmost importance. I like theater of the mind for this very reason. You can't be prepared for one of your players killing the king or adopting a random orphan from the street. These are situations that you as a GM need to solve and rolk with it in the moment instead of denying player agency. Choices need to have consequences, but you should not punish players for their creativity or their stance. All players should have reasonable freedom, and creating a unique story together is the reason why you should play a TRPG. I like to be challenging but fair. I like to give the freedom to my players to partially manipulate the world, this is another big advantage of theater of mind. For example, a fight in an alchemist's laboratory. If the player asks, "Is there anything I can toss at the skeleton berzerker?" "Yes, there is a table within arm's reach with various potions on your left side and a bookshelf on your right, also behind you Rock, the dwarf barbarian." "Rock is tempting, but I will go with the table." I started with old school TRPG's so if you want very deadly games, I can also do those with the old school roll for stats way.

I once ran a session...

where one of the player took off thesturdy wooden door of their jail cell that then he proceeded to use as an improvised tower shield. Then he managed to one hit critical hit kill the first boss in the dungeon. After that at a blacksmith he made itinto a proper shield that was his only weapon.

My games focus on...

to provide a fun experience for everyone at the table. I find it very important to a player groups to work together and i aim with my stories and communication to help them band together to face the challanges that's ahead of them.

Rules are...

are exist to give as a framework for fair play. They can be band and changed for the liking of a player group, the only important thing to be consistant with them for a fair experience.

Marc's ideal table

I'm very diplomatic at my table and like to encourage my players to work together and communicate with each other when they need to solve problems. I am friendly, and some joking here and there usually happens. I have a lot of resistance at this point against wordplay terrorists and such, so that's also fine. Most of the time, I was GM for friend groups or people with common hobbies, so I try to invoke that vibe and maybe even help my player become friends with their fellow players. TRPG is a great place to find like-minded people and give you the base for long-lasting friendships. Most likely players will get the most out of my table who do not just want to have an experience for themselves, but also aim to share these experiences with others. People who want to connect with others with the hobby and maybe learn a little bit about other people's perspectives. Sometimes short side talks happen at the table, and this is a natural part of playing a TRPG. You would be surprised how much you can learn from other people who have very different experiences and a knowledge set. Everyone has something interesting to say.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

playing unique, rare or difficult to play characters you will love my table as I love those kind of concept and very permissive about them. Do you want to play a skeleton paladin bound by an ancient promise? A blind chaotic evil demon who forced to do good by a curse? Maybe a sentient sword?

I love it when a player

surprise me with ideas that would not even come into my mind in a million years. Players finding the unexpected solution and making choices that make things interesting for everyone and change the whole direction of the story always make me happy. These are usually the most memorable things.

I think min/maxing...

is not necessarily a bad thing as a GM can balance things in more ways than a character can minmax. The only real problem is when minmaxing actively damages other aspects of the game, like role playing, or is done solely for the purpose of "beating" the GM or the other players.
