About Korin

So, when I first got into tabletop gaming roughly a decade ago, my experiences as a player were less than ideal. This pushed me toward the mindset of "fine, I'll do it myself", and have been running games as a GM ever since. I've been a player here and there since then as well, but I primarily GM games. Within the last few years, I've realized how much it matters to me that everyone is able to find a stable campaign with a GM that respects their time and effort at a table. Going forward, my goal is to show everyone the beautiful, irreplaceable hobby that is tabletop gaming. In each of my games, you'll find that my greatest desire is to tell great stories with good people. Whether it evokes a tearful reaction, or if it's an adrenaline rush through a demanding bossfight, the intent is to provide a fun experience for those that spend their time with me. It is a belief of mine that one of the most valuable things we can give someone is our time. I hope you'll give me yours.

I became a GM because

People deserve to escape their reality in a world of their choosing. I'm trying to give players the ability to let go of their daily worries.

People are always surprised when I tell them

Most people are surprised when I reveal that I am a Type 1 Diabetic. It has allowed a greater level of emotional intelligence through such a lifestyle change. I'm trying to use it to help everyone I interact with.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Usually I am playing video games, watching shows, and listening to music. Also getting into voice acting and making my own music.

How Korin runs games

Roleplay will forever be the highlight of my games. At every turn, I try to craft unique NPC's that you will remember for one reason or another. While I do not claim to be a skilled voice actor, I always try my best to expand the voices I can perform. Every interaction comes with the intention to make you feel immersed, as if you were actually living in the world around you. At the end of the day, storytelling is my primary interest and focus. Combat can also be an intricate part of every story, determining whether characters live or die, which also provide a lot of storytelling in their own ways. While I never intend to kill a player, I do try my best to make combat unique and fun. Rather than having you kill every enemy you come across, I try to allow many different solutions to arise prior to death being the only end one can achieve. When a fight is going on, I try to craft unique abilities for the enemies to use, or perhaps offer a fun alternative to simply wearing down the enemy HP bar. Sometimes, this can take the form of needing to destroy something, or saving NPC's before they are slain. Depends on the enemy in question and the surroundings, but I usually try my best to do something unique and fun as long as it makes sense to do so. Sometimes a good 'ole rumble is the best way to handle an encounter.

I deal with rules issues by...

I immediately take a moment to settle a rule issue with a majority vote. Obviously some rules lack some much needed defining, to which I will allow the players to vote and determine what we do with said rule going forward.

My games focus on...

Stroytelling and roleplay will forever be the main focus and appeal of my games. You can expect fun combat with unique designs to keep things fresh and engaging, but storytelling and roleplay will forever be my true loves of tabletop roleplaying games.

When it comes to voices

I always try to act, meaning that I will do my best to bring any NPC to life, whether you're fighting them, becoming friends with them, or even attempting to romance them(anything that leads to spicy stuff will fade to black).

Korin's ideal table

My idea table is one that is surrounded by those who will always prefer to roleplay and get involved with the story. Most of the time, I run sandbox campaigns, so a sense of exploration is always a welcome interest. At the end of the day, all of this is a game, so I try to keep a calm and friendly atmosphere. Even though I offer my GMing as a service, I am not opposed to being friends outside of the game.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

If you are an avid fan of roleplay, you will have a blast here. Storytelling is the core of each of my campaigns.

I think min/maxing...

Min/maxing has it's uses, and I understand the desire to want to be useful. However, you should focus on building a character, with a backstory to reflect their existence in the world before their adventuring began. In other words, be good at your role, but don't try to win at the game.

My table is not the place for...

If you are looking for a video game adjacent dungeon crawler, then I encourage you to seek another GM.
