About Wesley Matthews
Hi, everyone! My name is Wesley and I have been playing tabletop games, specifically D&D 5e for close to 8 years. I played a bit of 4th Edition in my high school days but I feel I really came into my love for the hobby in (what would have been) my college years. I a big believer in doing voices as a GM and I love making my players laugh and like to cultivate a positive experience at the table. I definitely subscribe to the idea that the only way to play D&D incorrectly is to play in a way that is making someone else have a bad time. As long as everyone is having fun, then you are playing correctly! I'm looking forward to playing with all of you!

I became a GM because
I love storytelling and interactive storytelling. I have been participating in some form of storytelling most of my life (film, theater, pretend play) and this is just the latest iteration. Let's get to it!
My favorite books are

How Wesley Matthews runs games
I personally have a lot of fun in horror and high fantasy settings. I love integrating a healthy and responsible dose of fear at the table to get my players into the game. That said, I think solid "session zeroes" where everyone gets on the same page and has a chance to voice any ideas, homebrew rule ideas, or themes for the game are a must. The game is much more fun if everyone has a solid understanding of what we're getting into. I have DMed a number of games over the years and I'm currently in the middle of running a homebrew game in 5e that has been going on for almost four years. Classic scheduling problems, right? I also believe in an open line of communication between players and the DM, especially when it comes to issues with compatibility and safety. If players are uncomfortable or frustrated with a rule, character or another play then that player should feel comfortable telling me so we can solve the problem together. Sometimes that involves some uncomfortable conversations, but if the line of communication is open, that discomfort should be minimal. We should all strive to have fun together!
