About Frederic

I run AD&D the way it was meant to be played: immersive, challenging, and story-driven. Don’t take anyone else’s word for it — come sit at the table and see for yourself why the first edition remains the best role-playing game ever designed. I’ve been playing and DMing since the very beginning of Dungeons & Dragons. I cut my teeth on the original Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, the first and greatest edition — and after decades of play, I can tell you there’s nothing quite like it. If you’re a veteran who remembers those early days, you already know the magic AD&D brings: a game where rulings matter more than rules, imagination matters more than mechanics, and every table feels alive with danger and discovery. If you’ve only played newer editions, you owe it to yourself to experience why AD&D became a cultural milestone. It’s not just nostalgia — it’s the foundation of everything that came after, and in many ways it still plays tighter, grittier, and more evocatively than anything since.

I became a GM because

I became a DM because storytelling, world-building, and challenge are in my blood. From the first dice I rolled, I wanted to create adventures that tested players, sparked imagination, and captured the magic that made AD&D the greatest game ever.

My favorite system of all Time is

AD&D is the original and greatest edition of Dungeons & Dragons — fast, dangerous, and endlessly creative. It’s where rulings matter more than rules, and imagination drives the adventure. Play it once, and you’ll see why it became a cultural legend.

I have a PhD in Anthropology and am a retired univetrsity professor. My writing and research has taken me around the world. Anthropology, archaeology, and history heavily influence my world-building.

How Frederic runs games

I run games that are immersive, challenging, and story-driven. I reward clever play, creative problem-solving, and roleplay that shapes the world. Expect rich environments, political intrigue, and moral complexity. I use description to set the tone, and I let the world breathe — but when action comes, it’s sharp, fast, and consequential. I’m not here to outwit the players, but I won’t protect them either. Choices matter. Mistakes matter. Victory feels earned because the stakes are real. Above all, I want my players to feel like they’ve stepped into another world — one with depth, history, and consequence — and to leave the table with stories worth retelling

If my campaign were a movie, it would be directed by George Miller and Denis Villeneuve — equal parts desert grit and cosmic wonder.

Frederic's ideal table

At my table, the focus is on immersion, challenge, and imagination. AD&D isn’t about power-gaming or rules mastery — it’s about stepping into a dangerous world where choices matter, dice can be merciless, and clever thinking keeps you alive. I welcome players who love storytelling, roleplay, exploration, and problem-solving. Rules lawyers and min-maxers may find less joy here; this table is for those who want to experience a living, breathing world shaped as much by description and decisions as by charts and dice. The vibe is serious but fun: gritty danger balanced with moments of humor, mystery, and wonder. We lean into atmosphere, but also celebrate the unexpected chaos that makes D&D unforgettable. Respect, collaboration, and creativity are non-negotiable. If you’re curious about the roots of roleplaying games, if you miss the high-stakes edge of early D&D, or if you simply want to see why AD&D remains the most legendary RPG ever created — you’ll fit right in.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player dives deep into their character — their goals, flaws, and choices — and shares those with me. That way I can customize their experience, weaving their story into the world so the campaign feels personal, surprising, and unforgettable.
