About João Araújo
I am João, a 26-year-old writer and passionate storyteller. I started playing tabletop RPGs with my friends nearly 10 years ago, as we were looking for different games to play other than Magic: The Gathering. As I was the resident writer, intending to become a published author, I became the resident DM for quite a while. We stuck to D&D 5e for the majority of our TTRPG careers, and I have become an expert on the system, focusing on collaborative storytelling, tailored experiences, and roleplaying. We have played different systems since, such as Avatar Legends, Starfinder, Fate: Core, Cypher and Call of Cthulhu. I draw a lot of inspiration from books, TV shows, and movies I watch, as well as online DMs I enjoy. Primary sources of inspiration are Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Matt Mercer, Mark Hulmes, Brennan Lee Mulligan and Chris Perkins. How João Araújo runs games
I focus on storytelling and roleplay, while adapting the system to the type of story the group wants to experience. Starting with a Session 0, we will find what collectively excites us and create characters together towards a common goal. In the background, I will create puzzles, adapt mechanics, and create antagonists and challenges that will make the game feel challenging and engaging, while making you feel like the hero of a Fantasy or Sci-Fi story! The goal is to tell a story together and play a game that is fun and immersive.
