About Aaron

Hello all, I'm A-A-Ron! I have been playing DnD for about 9-10 years and but I have only been a DM/GM for about a year. It happens the way it always happens, I had a group of friends and we all wanted to play and didn't have a DM, so I took on the responsibility! Now, after doing it pretty regularly for the past year, I feel much more confident in my skills as a world builder, experience curator, and improvisational thinker. I am still learning every time I play DnD and I love teaching people how to play! If you are a rule lawyer, chances are I will be wrong a lot, but I make all decisions using as much as the rules as I can, and any in game logic that would make sense. In the simplest terms, I am fun. I won't get bogged down in the rules, and if you can justify how you are doing something, even if it is seemingly "against the rules" I will let you attempt.

I became a GM because

I became a GM simply because my group of friends wanted to Play DnD and didn't have anyone to run it. I have, over the last year and a half to two years, fallen in love with creating worlds, facilitating interactions, and collaborative story telling.

When I'm not playing games, I am playing live music all around NJ, NY, and PA (mostly NJ). I also like to read, play video games, and indulge in my Star Wars Addiction.

How Aaron runs games

I am a very good mix between combat and role play. I take backstories into account and I usually create my own worlds. I follow the rules, however, I am lax, as I believe it hinders the gaming to get to bogged down in the nitty gritty of the rules. However, I do my very best to follow all the rules that I can because without structure things tend to get out of hand. I usually do milestone based leveling as opposed to XP based leveling but I always ask my players what they prefer. I am a theater person so I love to role play with players and allow them space to role play with each other. I also do a bit of voice acting so I enjoy using funny and different voices.

My games focus on story-telling, and i am the type of DM who is willing to bend rules to make the story telling more epic and awesome. I stick to the rules as much as possible but I am also open to discussion about rules. I am not a dictator DM, I like collaborative story telling!

I want people who are here for the fun and love of it. I will not tolerate anyone steamrolling, disrespecting, or purposefully offending other players or myself. Everyone should be supportive of each other and respectful of boundaries. I am very good at helping new players figure out DnD and begin their journey in TTRPG's, but in have also DM'd for experienced players.
