About Dean
I have been gaming for 29 years, and GMing for 20 of those. I started out with Battletech and Mechwarrior before getting involved with Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e. That's where I started DMing, and I have gone from running published modules to homebrewing my own campaigns. More recently I have also run the Alien RPG, Bunkers and Badasses, and the Transformers RPG. When I GM, my goal is to tell a story and to bring my players into that story. It's much more interesting when we tell it together.

How Dean runs games
Storytelling is my passion as a GM, and I try to vary the tools I use to tell that story. I like engaging roleplay encounters and liberal combat encounters, with some puzzle solving thrown in. I try hard not to stick to one specific avenue because it can become monotonous, but I think I have a preference for combat encounters. In most of the RPG's I have run, it lets players take advantage of the the abilities they have planned for and worked toward.

Reviewing the source material shortly beforehand so it is fresh in my mind.
Rules are...
A framework, made to be used to guide things into place, not force them.
Dean's ideal table
My table is LGBTQIA+ friendly. I do not tolerate discrimination of any kind between my players. New players are welcome at my table. I enjoy teaching the game, and encourage my players to ask questions. My hope is to foster friendly connections between my players. It is my priority to provide a safe and comfortable environment for my players to have fun and enjoy themselves. I play well with other players who use the rules as a flexible framework and not a concrete wall. I'm pretty open to player ideas. If there's a rule that matches what they want to do, great! If not, I try to adapt the rules to fit those ideas rather than the other way around.
