About Gabriel Sharff
Hello, my name is Gabriel. I started playing TTRPGs with DnD 3.5 roughly 20 years ago and have been playing different systems ever since. My preferred system is Pathfinder 2nd Edition, but I am open to expanding to DnD 5th Edition as well once FoundryVTT has more source material available for it. As you might have guessed from the previous sentence, I use FoundryVTT for running my games.

I became a GM because
While I enjoy being a player, I also enjoy being able to be a "chameleon" while playing TTRPGs. Being able to embody many different characters and make/use a bunch of different voices is very fun for me.
People are always surprised when I tell them
I speak four languages (English, Spanish, French, and German) to varying degrees and just started learning another (Irish Gaelic).
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing video games (usually League of Legends or World of Warcraft, but also some single-player games), writing, and working on world-building for my own homebrew campaigns and stories
How Gabriel Sharff runs games
In my campaigns, I aim to provide a good mix of role-playing, combat, and exploration. When it comes to roleplaying, I encourage players to flesh out their characters and interact with each other and the NPCs that populate the world. I give each of my NPCs their own distinct, unique voices and personalities to help the world feel more alive and "lived in." When it comes to combat, I try to engage my players' strategic minds to find the best way to overcome a situation. Sometimes, just attacking can get you through the encounters just fine, but for other encounters, you'll need to decide whether it is better to attack, or perform some other type of maneuver to gain the advantage over your opponents. When it comes to exploration and downtime, I aim to paint a vivid picture of the world around the players' characters as they go on about their adventures and daily lives. Overall, my aim is for everyone involved to have fun. Though I am generally a stickler for the "rules as written," I understand when certain mechanics are overbearing or unfun and will work with my players to find ways to tweak or fix it. Going hand-in-hand with the above, if you just aren't enjoying your character because the class fantasy isn't what you imagined when you created it, I will work with you to either retrain your character in-game, or even make a completely new character if necessary. I look forward to gaming with you.

My favorite trope is...
medieval fantasy settings.
Rules are...
written for a reason, especially in Pathfinder Second Edition, the system I primarily use. That being said, if a certain rule is stifling the enjoyment of my players, I try to find a work around so that it isn't as much of a problem anymore.
When it comes to voices
I give each and every character their own voice to help the players differentiate who is speaking.
Gabriel Sharff's ideal table
My ideal table would be filled with players who enjoy a wide array of genre of adventure, as well as those who enjoy both the combat and role-playing portions of TTRPGs. I like the general vibe for my table to be laid-back and easy-going. I aim to make each session an enjoyable time for everyone involved. I enjoy playing with experienced and new players alike. I've spent a good portion of the last 20 years playing with players of all experience levels and each brings their own kind of enjoyment, whether it's discovering something new they haven't done before, or trying that wacky character concept you've kept on the backburner for years.

I love it when a player
comes to me with an off-the-wall character concept. I enjoy working with them trying to find out the best way we can make the character come to life using official character-building materials, and sometimes homebrewing something if we're just missing that little something. Flavoring is also great!
I think metagaming...
is not fun for anyone other than the player metagaming. It is something that I will call people out for in the moment if it becomes too apparent (ie. saying a troll is weak to fire, even if your character has never encountered a troll or had reason to research them).
I think min/maxing...
can be fun under the right circumstances, but often leaves players disappointed when the part of the game they decided to "dump" comes into play and takes center stage for a prolonged period of time.
