About Ben
Hey everyone, I started my tabletop experience playing D&D with the lads. Over time, moved to GM'ing for them. Recently, I moved from D&D to another system, and I love learning them. I'm still relatively new, and would say I've only been GM'ing consistently for about 1 year.

I became a GM because
I wanted to have more creative freedom on the universe the group is playing in. I want to tailor game worlds to something that everyone will find enjoyment in, and feel personally included.
I got started GMing...
I got started GMing because I was the only one in my local friend group willing to do so. Just kind of stuck and whenever I'm creatively fueled I never get tired doing so.
How Ben runs games
I love to give my players tools and agency to roleplay. My main focus is creating a coherent story, and giving players' creativity chances to shine. I value RP moments above all else. I will always try to incorporate players backstories into campaigns, and work with each one to add their stories to the overarching plot. I also value core rules quite highly. I believe these provide the key function for us to have fun with our mechanics. Occasionally however, I will allow players special exceptions if they are feeling creatively inspired.
Ben's ideal table
I enjoy a relaxed vibe. My ideal would be players that are into the RP aspect, and are okay with delving into some long combats as well.

I love it when a player
I love it when a player creates a very long and detailed backstory. It shows me they are interested in the world that is being created.
I think metagaming...
metagaming is fine on a personal level I think. I wouldn't like it if someone was metagaming to tell a new player what to do though. Metagaming should also be contained to your thoughts, and shared after the session if the person feels the need to in my opinion.
