About Spectacularism

Hello, I'm Spectacularism, at my table you can call me Brandon! I have gamemastered for a little over 8 years, in that time I have ran modules such as Curse of Strahd, Waterdeep: Dragonheist, Ghosts of Saltmarsh, Strength of Thousands, and a litany of Homebrew settings. I have mostly stuck with D&D5e and Pathfinder 2e, because I love epic fantasy, though I have experimented with other systems in small doses. Some of my favorite hobbies include worldbuilding, hanging out with my two cats, programming, watching youtube, and recently traveling. Favorite youtubers at the moment are Jerma, CaseOh, Accursed Farms, FunkyFrogBait and a myriad of true crime channels. I love bringing people together of all walks and having a good time, one of my favorite ways of doing that has always been tabletop in my adult life. Overall however, I consider myself just an excited person. I love to talk and make others laugh, and I love to listen, especially about others interests and inter-party dialogue. All in all, I want to tell a story that we can all laugh, cry and cheer at, and build memories that we can talk about later.

How Spectacularism runs games

My games have been and always will be run like a home game, where we can build up a table of friends who can feel comfortable laughing with each other and roleplaying with emotion. I put a lot of effort into making the experience immersive: - Visually: By hand picking art for characters, splash screens, battle-maps and more. - Audibly: By hand picking appropriate ambient sounds and music. - Roleplay: Though I am one person, I strive to make every character met alive and unique by performing accents or speech patterns/mannerisms. I also like the characters I play to have real reactions and emotions to both the world and players actions. - Worldbuilding: Whether it be my own setting, or an established one, I do my best to make the world feel alive by communicating unique elements to locations and their effects on your characters senses. - Combat: I like to make combat interesting, even just in small ways like interesting abilities for adversaries, to larger elements like environmental pressures and time restraints. - PC Engagement: The player characters I find most fun to explore, through allowing those moments by the campfire, to looking deeper into backgrounds through their own in-game adventures. At the end of the day, I'm having the most fun when the whole table is, and when I can craft something that can truly impress everyone at it.

Spectacularism's ideal table

My table is rather roleplay-centric. I’m having the most fun when my table is immersed in the setting. So the players that fit the most well, would be those who love getting into character, engaging with the world, NPCs, and other player characters. This is because I try to make my game responsive to that type of play. All of this is to say, I love when the vibe feels like a game of friends. To feel comfortable and excited to see each other every session. In a focused view, I like when the players at the table are able to majority-of-the-time be in character at sessions. However, a healthy amount of character breaking can be a wonderful thing. Such as planning, having a laugh, excitement or a variety of other things.
