About Michael Johnson
Greeting and Salutation Mike or Elvenranger here! I have been playing TTRPGs for over 20 years, though my playtime has been a bit on-and-off over the last decade. My journey started with D&D 3.5, thanks to a fantastic GM who taught me the sweet spot between immersive storytelling and engaging combat. While I have run games in both D&D 5e and Daggerheart, these days I definitely lean toward favoring Daggerheart. My philosophy at the table is simple: if you have a cool concept or a wild idea you want to pull off, let's figure out how to make it happen together. When we play, we are a team & never me versus you.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Daggerheart, Pathfinder, and Dread. I love the story telling aspect but love the unique way both dread and daggerheart do to tell stories.
My favorite books are
Ready player one. The book helps me take inspiration with taking things that don't connect, and always finding a way that they do.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Hanging out with my family, waltzhing movies and tv for inspiration for my next session or campaign idea
How Michael Johnson runs games
Story-Driven & Character-Focused: For me, the magic of TTRPGs happens in the quiet conversations, the dramatic choices, and the unexpected character arcs. Roleplay takes center stage at my table, and combat is used deliberately as a high-stakes narrative tool when tension peaks and the story demands it, rather than just filler between rooms. Cinematic & Culturally Connected: I love making the world feel instantly relatable and alive. Expect plenty of pop culture references woven into dialogue and descriptions to help everyone instantly visualize a scene, crack a smile, or catch a hidden nod. The Soundtrack of the Adventure: Music is a huge part of how I set the mood. Depending on the circumstances, I love dropping in music references, whether it is a clever town name borrowed from a favorite track, a subtle lyrical nod hidden in an NPC's monologue, or the atmospheric vibe of a specific situation. Collaborative World-Building: My ultimate goal as a GM is to make sure everyone at the table is having fun. I am here to help you realize your wildest character ideas, reward creative problem-solving, and build an epic story together.
Michael Johnson's ideal table
At my table, everyone is welcome. I know what it feels like to be left out or on the outside looking in, and I refuse to ever make someone else feel that way. Whether you are a seasoned roleplayer or stepping up to the table for the very first time, you belong here, your voice matters, and this is a safe, inclusive space to share a story together.
