About Alwyn
I grew up in the 1970s, and was an avid reader. I read all of the fantasy fiction I could find, including lots of Tolkien, Howard, Moorcock and Donaldson. Boardgames were a big part of my childhood, and like many kids my age I enjoyed games of Risk, Axis & Allies, and Dark Tower. My love of fantasy (and science-) fiction was fed with the rise of D&D; I immersed myself in the Holmes Basic Set and the 1st Edition AD&D system. Through college I played 2nd Edition AD&D, and over the decades I’ve played and served as a Dungeon Master using 2nd and 3rd Edition (and Pathfinder), as well as 5th Edition. I’m also a published writer, having contributed to campaign sourcebooks for the Midnight: Second Edition RPG. These days I harken back to the vibe I got when first discovering the game. Currently I bump around the different systems that are part of the “OSR” movement: OSE and Swords & Wizardry are my latest interests. They have brought on that feeling I had as a newbie player of RPGs. I hope to take part in a campaign with players who also seek that vibe, and want to play in a campaign heady with Swords & Sorcery flavor.

How Alwyn runs games
In an RPG campaign I offer engaging roleplay as well as tactical, clever combats. I play with NPC voices and accents as I can; I’m no theater major, but I give it a go! I encourage players to develop their characters through roleplay, as well as writing out-of-game to illustrate vignettes (episodes from play), and the development of character biographies. I’ve done a fair bit of writing myself, so I’ll develop mythology, provide campaign/regional reference information, and the like as the campaign progresses. I’m big on offering visuals for increased immersion, and am trying my hand of having background music to set a scene.
