About Jamie
Hi! I'm a writer and published journalist who's been GMing for over 30 years. I first began roleplaying and running games in high school, but my experience really took off in college in the 1990s, when I was introduced to the World of Darkness game setting. I've run one-shot games at conventions and I served as gaming room director for Jersey Devil Con 3 in 2003.

I got started GMing...
in college, which is how I met my wife.
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
World of Darkness Scion and a tie between Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder (because it's so hard to pick between the two!)
My favorite books are
J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy Stephen R. Lawhead's Pendragon series Frank Herbert's Dune series
How Jamie runs games
I love crafting highly-detailed, immersive worlds and letting player characters loose in them! I lean heavily towards roleplaying, and giving players input into crafting their characters' stories! My game settings have spanned the reaches of time and space. I try to steamline combat to keep it flowing as quickly as possible. I believe in the "rule of cool" - if you think you can, try it!

I once ran a session...
in which each character was a Marauder, or "mad mage" and saw the "real" world through their own vision of reality. One believed that they were a Herald from the fictional world of Valdemar, another that they were a comic book character, and a third was a priestess of Avalon.
I prep by
doing research on setting and (if appropriate) time period, and creating notes on large numbers of NPCs, so I always know who or what the player characters will run into during the story.
My games focus on...
Roleplaying and character interaction, intrigue and mystery.
Jamie's ideal table
I want players to enjoy having an immersive roleplaying experience! For me, gaming is about taking a break from your problems for a little while and getting to play someone else, and dealing with all of their problems! I've run games for people with all levels of experience. I also run a very LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse-positive table.

I love it when a player
learns something new about their character that they didn't realize!
I think metagaming...
is kind of obnoxious.
