About Lucas
Hello! My name is Lucas. I love hosting bizarre and brilliant adventures and seeing players' characters and ideas come to life! My main motivation is to learn more about the characters my players create, thus I always aim to give them situations and challenges that explore the character's values, as well as make their decisions lasting and impactful. I particularly enjoying hosting Mage: The Ascension because it allows players to explore esoteric themes as well as reality-warping madness. if you're in the mood for something more lighthearted, I also greatly enjoy using the D100-LITE system in Covert Ops for gun-blasting espionage adventures. I do not allow for the use of AI-generated assets in my games. Note: Nazis, racists, sexists, transphobes, homophobes, and other bigots are explicitly prohibited from playing, reading, watching, or enjoying my games. In fact, I'd rather you avoided my games altogether. If you have to ask whether this statement is about you, it is.

I became a GM because
I enjoy writing and preparing materials for the games I run. To me, there's nothing better than being part of an interactive story, whether as a player or GM.
My favorite books are
The Shardlake Series by CJ Sansom. This series of Tudor murder mysteries really brings the English renaissance era to life. I am particularly fascinated by its depiction of The Reformation and how the changes in faith and actions of the church impacted everyone's day-to-day life.
My favorite system of all Time is
Mage: The Ascension Having studied the occult and esoteric for many years, Mage seemed like a heavenly fit for me. Its usage of real-world mythology and occult history allows me to create a vivid and mysterious world for players to explore.
How Lucas runs games
I love seeing players explore their characters as they face various challenges, dilemmas, and triumphs. This is why I favour the Storyteller system, as it empathizes roleplay. I adhere to the ideal of "players make the story" so I try to use things from the PCs backstory, dialogue, or actions to incorporate into the story so it becomes more exciting and fulfilling. Regarding mechanics, I generally prefer lightweight or modified mechanics that are easy to understand and handle. I alter the initiative/combat in the Storyteller System to be closer to mainstream games in that regard. The D100-LITE in Covert Ops system allows for gripping combat and tense scenes without being cumbersome.

I deal with rules issues by...
"You give me the idea, I’ll give you the rules." I value creativity over hard limits. Talking it out with the players before it arises, ideally outside of game. I keep mechanics info (custom or core) available to read either on the virtual tabletop or on a separate discord channel.
Lucas's ideal table
Players who highly value and enjoy roleplaying but know to give everyone at the table their time in the spotlight. I often use historical or political settings in my games, so players that appreciate and know how to handle those themes maturely can expect a vibrant world of intrigue where they can determine the outcome of plots and conspiracies.
