About Alexis Budd
Alexis Budd is a professional game master and co-creator of Dungeons and Flagons, a Toronto-based TTRPG company that runs one-shot games, mini-campaigns, and other TTRPG experiences in local pubs. Since early 2023 Alexis, along with co-creators Gillian Reed and Danny Pagett, have grown Dungeons and Flagons into a community staple of the Junction neighborhood in Toronto. Alexis is a professionally-trained stage actor (Humber College) who became a DM by running games over the pandemic lock-down. Drawing upon his performance background, experiences as a stage-combat performer, and interest in History his games tend to focus much more on storytelling and improvisation, offering a narrative-focused experience leaning more towards the spirit rather than the letter of the law when interpreting rules. He also worked at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament as a Squire and Knight during his early 20’s, which is also kinda cool. When he is not running games he navigates the frozen north with a magical cast-iron pan as an Uthgardian Barbarian named Grom of The Greytooth. Grom is just trying to become a better man and bring home glory to his tribe, but spends most of his time learning the taste profiles of random flora and fauna.

How Alexis Budd runs games
I tend to view D&D as a collaborative storytelling exercise, with the rules functioning to give structure and stakes to the narrative. As a result, my games tend to be primarily narrative-focused with dynamic mechanics and combat that informs the story itself. I use my performance background to bring the game world to life through interesting characters, plot developments, and offers from players to weave into the narrative.
