About Connor
Hi! My name is Connor and I've been part of the hobby since 2017 when myself and a group of friends decided to try D&D for the first time. While I was a player during that first one shot and have been in a few shorter campaigns as a player since, the vast majority of my time with TTRPGs has been spent as a GM for D&D 5E. I would like to be able to offer GM services for other systems eventually and am working on learning a few with my home group but at the moment 5E is what I feel most comfortable with. My go to style as a DM is being relatively rules-lite but I'm not opposed to running crunchier games depending on what the group/campaign calls for. I strive to make all of my games as inclusive as possible and I am always open to feedback when it comes to improving the TTRPG experience for everyone.

I got started GMing...
I got started GMing when myself and a few friends wanted to try playing DnD for the first time. After our first game, the GM said that they would much rather be a player and I volunteered to give it a shot. Years later and I'm still the GM in probably about 80% of the games I participate in.
How Connor runs games
As a GM I'm typically very roleplay and story driven. I also follow the rule of cool pretty regularly so rules tend to take a back seat in my games. I will definitely still bring challenging combats and dungeon crawls to the table but those are typically just one piece of a much larger picture. I enjoy adding in homebrew as long as its nothing game breaking. That being said, I'm not opposed to running a crunchier game if that is what the group/campaign calls for. I personally feel that playstyles need to be felt out and agreed upon by the group in order to have the best experiences. I do voices when I can but I'm far from a voice actor and I typically avoid any accents that could come across as offensive. While I am working on learning other systems with my home group, 5E is currently what I feel most comfortable running.

My games focus on...
making sure the players are having fun. If we're not enjoying the journey then what are we even doing here? I do my best to key in on what individual players enjoy.
When it comes to voices
I give it my best shot! I'm by no means a voice actor or impressionist but I do my best to give NPCs their own feel and try to make as many distinct voices as I can even if there are only small variations between some.
Connor's ideal table
I try to make sure that there is a solid mix of combat and RP at my tables. DnD (and 5e in particular) is built around combat but I don't believe that should ever be the sole focus. At the end of the day collaborative story telling is the goal and that is impossible without RP. You don't need to feel confident doing it as long as you're willing to try.

I love it when a player
takes the initiative to make their own connections and bring things from their backstory or character's personality into the moment. Instant inspiration.
I think metagaming...
Is lame.
I think min/maxing...
Has it's place. I don't think it should ever be the sole focus of your character but who am I to tell you not to feel powerful in an RPG?
